History Guard gives you full control over which websites appear in your Chrome browsing history. Add any site to your blocklist, and History Guard will automatically prevent Chrome from saving those visits — instantly and silently. WHAT'S NEW IN 2.2.0 ★ Vanish on Close — the sites you pick are erased when you close them: history (including the bare domain), cache and stored site data. Optionally cookies too, so you're signed out. ★ PIN unlocks as soon as you finish typing — no Unlock click. CORE FEATURES ★ Per-Site Blocking — Add domains like instagram.com, tiktok.com, or any site you want. History entries are deleted the instant they're recorded. ★ Vanish on Close — Pick a site, use it normally, log in if you need to. The moment you close its last tab, History Guard erases every history entry for that site — the bare domain included — along with its cache and stored site data. When you add a site it asks once whether to clear cookies too, so you can choose between staying signed in and being signed out. HOW IT WORKS Chrome doesn't have a built-in "don't record history for this site" API. History Guard uses a delete-on-visit approach: when Chrome records a visit to a blocked site, the entry is immediately and silently removed. The bare domain itself is kept so it still autocompletes in the address bar — only the deeper pages you viewed are removed. When you block a site, any matching deep links already in your history are cleaned up too. Vanish on Close goes further for the sites you choose. While the tab is open the site behaves completely normally, so you can log in and use it as usual. When the last tab holding that site closes, History Guard removes every history entry for the domain — this time including the bare domain — and clears the cache and site data for exactly that site, leaving every other site alone. If you chose "Sign me out" when you added it, cookies go too. If a second tab still has the site open, nothing is touched until that one closes too. PRIVACY History Guard runs entirely on your device. No data is sent to any server. Your blocklist syncs across your Chrome browsers via Chrome's built-in sync, and nothing else leaves your machine.
