Arc Lite

A floating action bar, command bar, custom start page and session restore, inspired by Arc.

Arc Lite brings a few of Arc's best touches to any Chromium browser: a floating action bar, a command bar, a customizable start page and session restore. No account, no sign-in, no tracking. ACTION BAR A small row of buttons pinned to the bottom-left of every page. It stays out of the way until something is happening. • Media: a mini player for each playing video or audio source, including sources in other tabs and frames. Play/pause, seek 10 seconds, mute, picture-in-picture, and next/previous on YouTube, YouTube Music and Spotify. New media briefly expands to a full player, and hovering a pill expands it in place. • Downloads: the latest download appears as a chip with live progress, with your three most recent downloads on hover and a shortcut to the Downloads folder. When a download chip is open, the media player stacks neatly above it. • Copy URL: copies the current tab's address with Cmd+Shift+C (Ctrl+Shift+C on Windows and Linux) and confirms with a toast. COMMAND BAR Press Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+K (or a shortcut you choose) to open one box that searches your open tabs, actions, history, recently closed tabs and the web. It also works on pages where extensions normally can't run, such as chrome:// pages, the Web Store and PDFs. START PAGE Replaces the new tab page with a clock, greeting, search box, top sites and a small to-do list. Choose a gradient, a solid colour, your own photo, or a daily photo from Bing, Wikipedia, NASA or Picsum. SESSION RESTORE Snapshots your windows, tabs and tab groups, and reopens them on browser start if the browser didn't restore them itself. SETTINGS Every button and shortcut can be turned on or off from the settings page, and the media player can be hidden on specific sites. PRIVACY Arc Lite keeps its settings, to-do list and session snapshot in your browser's local storage. The only network requests are the daily photo sources you choose, sent without credentials.
