YapDB — Tab Notes

Record a chosen tab into YapDB notes and save complete meeting video locally.

Create searchable notes from the conversations and videos already open in Chrome. YapDB records only the tab you choose. You can optionally include your microphone for meetings, then continue browsing while the recording runs. Audio is uploaded to your YapDB account for transcription and note generation. Complete WebM video is saved directly to a folder you choose and is never uploaded to YapDB. The popup adapts to your current tab. On supported Google Meet and Microsoft Teams links it opens automatically, while recording still starts only after you choose the audio inputs and press the start action: • Record a YouTube video while it plays. • Start meeting notes from Google Meet, Microsoft Teams, or Zoom. • Record audio from another supported website. • Save the selected tab's complete video and meeting audio locally, on by default. • Create a structured note from a supported public YouTube link without playing the full video. Recordings are saved in a durable local upload queue before transfer. Interrupted uploads can retry, and closing the popup does not stop an active recording. Resulting notes open in YapDB and synchronize through the existing account. The first local video asks you to choose a folder. Later videos stream directly to that folder without holding the complete meeting in memory. The extension links the local file to its generated note on this Chrome profile; the web note can open the recording through the extension. Moving the file, revoking folder access, clearing extension data, or using another device can make that local link unavailable. While recording a supported Meet or Teams call, YapDB stops automatically when the meeting ends or that tab navigates away. A small local page monitor reads only the meeting address and call control/status labels needed to derive this lifecycle. It does not send page text to YapDB, read unrelated tabs, collect general browsing history, play microphone audio through your speakers, or start recording without an explicit action.
