Focal is a reading companion for Chrome. Select text on any page or PDF and it explains the confusing part, checks whether a claim holds up, or tells you whether the page is worth your time at all. Explain selected text — highlight anything and get a short, plain-language explanation. Focal reads the whole page, so it resolves "this method", "the author", and jargon defined three paragraphs earlier. Fact-check claims — Validate searches the web and tells you whether a claim is accurate, partly accurate, or unsupported, with links to the sources it used. Is this worth reading? — before committing to a long article, get a verdict, the substantive claims it contains, quality signals, and a rough read time. Summarize any page or PDF — right-click to summarize what you're looking at, then keep asking follow-up questions in the side panel. Chat with PDFs — works in Chrome's built-in PDF viewer. The whole document is sent, not just a snippet. Your reading history, searchable — every answer you ask for is saved locally so you can find that thing you read three weeks ago.
