)Overview
Groups, sorts and tidies your tabs automatically, with a long-press menu and a usage dashboard.
tap-tap keeps your tabs in order, and it shows you where your time goes. It puts the tabs of each site in a group, names the group after the site, and keeps the groups in order. Open some YouTube tabs, and they go into a YouTube group. When a tab goes to a different site, the tab leaves the group. When it comes back, tap-tap puts it in the group again. Hold the pointer still on a page, and a pie menu of your last tabs opens. A dashboard shows the time that you use each site. This data stays in your browser, and only you can see it. Set it up one time. Then tap-tap does the work. WHAT IT DOES • Groups tabs by site. Each site gets one group, with the same name and colour each time. tap-tap makes the group when a window has enough tabs of that site. • Groups a page with the tabs that you open from it, if you turn this on. Open a link to another site from a page, such as a front page or a search. The page and all tabs that you open from it go into one group, named after the page. This includes tabs that you open from those tabs. • Merges duplicate groups. Chrome sync can make two groups with the same name. tap-tap merges them into one group. It keeps the older group and its name. • Collapses groups that you do not use. When you do not use a group for some time, tap-tap collapses it. This keeps the tab strip short. • Keeps your tabs in order. You can sort groups by name, age, size or time used. You can sort the tabs in each group by name, site or age. You can also sort the tabs that are not in a group, and put them before or after the groups. Each order can go up or down. • Closes tabs before or after the tab that you right-click, but only tabs in the same group. It can also close the duplicates of a tab: all other tabs in the window that show the same page. • Closes duplicate tabs, if you turn this on. When a page is open in two tabs, tap-tap closes one after you do not use it for some time. It keeps the tab that you look at, or else the tab that you used last. • Suspends tabs that you do not use, if you turn this on. A suspended tab keeps its position and its group. It does not use memory, and it loads again when you click it. • Closes tabs that you did not use for a long time, if you turn this on. It can also ungroup groups that you do not use, so that Chrome does not save them in the bookmarks bar. • Long-press pie menu. Hold the mouse or your finger still on a page, and a pie menu opens around the pointer. It shows your last tabs, each with its icon and title, and a new tab. The tab that you used before is always on the right, so to go back you move right and release. The other tabs follow in the order that you used them, from all windows. Move into a wedge and release to open that tab. A tab that you closed stays in the pie menu for five minutes. Select it to open it again. • Usage dashboard. It shows how long you used each site today, this week and this month. It counts only when the tab is in front of you and you are at the computer. For each site, it also shows the sites that you change to and from most. A small summary syncs with your Chrome account, so the dashboard adds up the time from all your devices. WHAT IT WILL NOT DO tap-tap changes only the groups that it made. A group that you named is yours. tap-tap does not rename it, ungroup it, close its tabs, or put new tabs in it. A tab that you drag out of a group stays out. tap-tap puts it back only when the tab goes to a different site. All settings that close tabs are off until you turn them on. Even then, tap-tap never closes pinned tabs, tabs that play sound, or the tab that you look at. SETTINGS You can group tabs by site, by full subdomain, or automatically. Auto keeps a site in one group, but gives separate products, such as Gmail and Calendar, their own groups. You can set how many tabs of a site start a group, and how few tabs ungroup a group. You can group a page with the tabs that you open from it. You can set when an unused group collapses. You can also turn on: ungroup unused groups, suspend unused tabs, close unused duplicates, and close unused tabs. The pie menu and the usage timer each have an off switch. PRIVACY tap-tap never reads or changes the content of a web page. Its only content script waits for the long press that opens the pie menu. tap-tap reads tab addresses to find the site of each tab and to count the time that you use each site. This data stays in your browser and your Chrome sync. tap-tap sends nothing to us or to anyone else. There is no server, no account and no analytics. You can turn off the usage timer. Your settings sync with your Chrome account, so all your devices use the same settings. This extension does not copy your tabs or groups anywhere.
