Habitus Lens — A clip on the text, a note on the video

Attach an explaining clip to a passage, and leave a note on the YouTube seekbar.

Put an explanation on a page you can't edit — and hear back where people got stuck. A notice gets corrected, but the copies that already went out stay wrong. Habitus Lens leaves the original untouched and lays the explanation on top of it. Then it carries the reader's "I don't get this" back to whoever wrote the explanation. ■ One click after install and you've seen the whole thing On the screen that opens right after installing, press "Show me how it works." An example page opens with the underlines already on. Click one and the card appears — that is everything a reader ever does. No account needed, and we ask permission for that one page only. ■ Got a lens code? Click the Habitus Lens icon in the toolbar and paste it into "Paste a lens code." Go to a page that lens covers, and the phrases the author picked out are already underlined. Reading a lens someone shared with you costs nothing. ■ Select a phrase, and a question is filed Drag the passage that stopped you, hit "Don't get it," and it goes to the author. We don't send who pressed it — only where people got stuck. The author receives it sorted: something never written down, or something written badly. ■ Click an underline, and the explanation opens Every card has three layers — why it matters, the expert's view, what to do next. A video segment plays right inside the card. On YouTube the main video pauses and the clip plays beside it, taking turns. The underline only says "something is here." What it is comes when you click. ■ Write it once; it opens on every page you named The author writes the explanation once and decides where it opens — a whole domain, a path, or one exact address. It lands on pages you don't own, and on pages already published beyond fixing. A phrase answered once stays answered. ■ A procedure that crosses sites The arrow under a card takes the reader to the next step — even when that step lives on another site. On arrival, the explanation for that phrase opens by itself. One arrow is all the reader does. Number the steps and the underlines carry ①②③, with the steps remaining shown on the card. Authoring is just walking the pages and collecting: the order you collect is the order of the procedure. ■ The YouTube seekbar as your notebook Press the capture button on the player (or Alt+S, ⌃S on Mac) and the moment you just watched is kept, with a commentary card. Nothing pauses. Follow an author you like and their notes light up as notches on the seekbar of their videos. Click a notch to jump there and read what they left at that exact moment. ■ If you're the one writing Three steps — open the page you want, click the icon in your toolbar, press "Create." After that you just drag a phrase, and you write the card right there. It asks for a lens name once. Publish the lens, or hand it to specific people as a code.
