AI Time Tracker helps you understand how you use AI in your browser and make your next session more intentional. A quick question can become another prompt and another half-hour. See where that time goes, keep useful prompts close, and choose when to focus without another cloud usage account. Measure active time, detected submissions and estimated tokens. Review your own habits, set a daily goal, use focus sessions and organise a local prompt library. Supported chat websites are identified automatically; manage tracked tools in the extension's settings instead of maintaining a separate spreadsheet. Install free. Eligible installations include a seven-day Premium trial with no payment card and no automatic charge. Free remains available afterwards; purchasing is a separate choice. ACTIVE TIME, NOT JUST OPEN TABS Timing runs while a supported tab is active in a focused browser window. Switch away, minimise, pause tracking or become idle, and timing pauses. Leaving a tab open in the background does not count as continuous active use. Adjust the default 60-second idle threshold, exclude tools you do not want measured, or pause tracking entirely. Review totals from the toolbar dashboard or keep the side panel beside your current page. This measures browser activity under those conditions, not the quality of your attention, work completed or time spent in native desktop applications. UNDERSTAND THE NUMBERS Prompts are detected submissions. Detection is best effort and can be affected by site redesigns. Model identifiers appear when detectable, not on every interaction. Tokens are length-derived estimates. Normal tracking processes prompt and reply text transiently to calculate measurements without saving that text. Optional history and explicit pins are separate storage features. Cost is estimated API-equivalent compute using configured blended rates and available output estimates or an assumed response ratio. It is not your subscription payment, invoice, exact provider billing or a guaranteed saving. COMPARE YOUR ROUTINE Premium and the active trial provide weekly time-by-tool charts and a 30-day prompt overview, subject to available retained records. Explore the day/hour heatmap, peak hours, recent changes and prompts per active hour. Use those views to notice patterns: which tool takes most of your time, when sessions cluster, or whether a changed routine looks different. More prompts per hour does not prove greater productivity. Set a daily time goal and review your local streak. Free provides a limited streak-card preview; Premium keeps that view available. You can classify tools as Deep work, Neutral or Distraction, with two category overrides on Free. The AI Dependency Score is a 0-100 usage heuristic, not an addiction diagnosis, mental-health assessment or measurement of how much thinking you outsource. Trend forecasts are projections, not reliable predictions. FOCUS AND INTENTIONAL WORK SESSIONS Choose domains to block, then start Focus for 25 minutes, 50 minutes or until stopped. Navigation to selected sites redirects to the extension's focus page while the rule is active. Nothing is blocked merely because you installed it. Free supports two blocked domains. Premium adds a larger list, recurring local-time schedules, opt-in daily-budget blocking and strict timed lock. Strict lock prevents the ordinary early-stop action; it is a commitment aid, not a firewall or tamper-proof restriction. For a structured work block, write an intention, add a task and choose a 25-minute work / five-minute break cycle or 50/10. The timer offers Start and Stop, not pause/resume. Free includes one session task; Premium expands capacity. The timer and Focus can be used separately or together, and the popup need not stay open. RATE WHAT HELPED Mark a session Done, Helped, Not useful or Still working. This separates activity from your own assessment of usefulness without asking a model to judge the work. The weekly coach uses local rules to explain recorded totals and self-ratings, such as time changes or days over your goal. It does not read your saved prompt library, call a remote coach or verify business results. The optional seven-day Balance Challenge aims for five balanced days. A balanced day combines recorded usage within your goal, a rated intentional session and a reviewed insight. Stopped sessions and Still working ratings can count. Progress remains local; ending the challenge does not delete ordinary usage history. LOCAL PROMPT TOOLS Prompt Studio turns a rough idea into a structured request using local templates. Bring context, instructions and an output shape together, then review the result before using it. No model call or provider API key is needed. Free includes four builds per day; Premium removes that build limit. Pin useful prompts explicitly in your local library. Free supports two pins; Premium allows up to 500. These are saved text entries, not unlimited cloud storage. Prompt History is optional and OFF by default. If you enable it, submitted prompt text, tracked conversation links and page titles are saved locally. Free keeps two rolling entries; Premium allows up to 500, subject to your shorter retention choices. Text is capped per entry, and replies are not saved. Turning capture off stops new entries but does not erase existing history. Use Clear history or the usage-deletion controls to remove saved data. Consider confidentiality before saving prompts or exporting files. SHARE ONLY WHAT YOU CHOOSE Generate local statistics cards and choose their fields before sharing: time, prompts, estimated tokens or cost, tools and streak. Omit figures you would rather keep private. Free includes one ordinary card per day and three Wrapped generations after one active day. Premium adds weekly/monthly Wrapped and removes generation limits. Sharing opens a destination or copies text/link at your request; it does not silently post. Product-sharing links are not a rewards scheme. No rating, positive review, referral or social post is required to use the trial. External destinations have their own privacy practices. OPTIONAL USAGE REPORTS Free report-copy mode prepares a local summary for you to review and paste wherever you choose. It does not need an API key. Optional in-place provider reports require Premium, your own provider API key and the relevant host permission. Provider access, supported models and charges are separate from this extension. Generating such a report sends aggregate time, submissions, token estimates, tool labels, score, goal and streak directly to the selected provider. Saved library entries and conversation URLs are not included in that report payload. Commentary can be wrong; review it rather than treating it as professional advice. Email actions prepare drafts, not automatic scheduled delivery. EXPORTS, BACKUPS AND RETENTION Free includes one CSV export in total, not one per day. Premium provides unlimited CSV exports, a charted HTML report and JSON backup/restore for supported local records. This is file-based transfer, not automatic cloud synchronisation. Backups can include saved prompts, so keep them private. They exclude licence, trial and provider keys. Restore does not transfer paid access or restart the trial; future history capture still requires consent. Free reveals six hours of detailed usage and today's per-tool detail. Separate whole-day recap totals may remain for up to 90 days; they are not a full per-tool timeline. Premium retains hourly detail for up to 35 days and day-level usage for up to 730 days. History and pins have entry caps. Retention settings can shorten eligible windows, not expand plan limits. Upgrading cannot recover deleted detail or usage that was never measured. Export records you need before uninstalling. Removing the extension or clearing browser storage can erase local records, and there is no cloud usage account to recover them. Eligible installs or updates start one seven-day Premium trial automatically. No payment card or extension account is required, and installation does not begin automatic billing. Free continues after expiry; deleting usage does not restart the trial. Paid access uses an external Lemon Squeezy checkout and a licence key. Review current prices, renewal, taxes, refunds and cancellation terms before purchasing. Where offered, Lifetime means the operational lifetime of the product and licensing service, not guaranteed perpetual availability. PRIVACY AND YOUR CONTROLS Usage, preferences, goals, prompts you save and session records are stored in your browser. Normal tracking saves numeric measurements rather than prompt/reply text; explicit pins and enabled history save text locally. No usage analytics is uploaded to Kartik Labs. There is no screen recording or keystroke log. Tab metadata supports tracked-tool attribution and Focus navigation handling. Network requests include data-only tool configuration, paid licensing and optional reports to a provider you select. Links and sharing open external services. Hosts receive ordinary connection metadata; local-first does not mean the software never makes a network request. Local storage is not encrypted by the extension. Protect shared devices, exports and backups. Usage deletion removes measurements, history/pins, timer state, outcomes and challenge progress. Preferences, licences, provider keys and one-time counters have separate controls or remain; deleting usage does not reset trial/export limits. PERMISSIONS AND COMPATIBILITY storage keeps local records and settings; tabs attributes active usage and supports Focus; idle pauses timing when you are away; alarms handles timers, reminders and maintenance; notifications shows enabled notices; scripting runs supported detectors and user-enabled custom-domain tracking; sidePanel opens the dashboard beside your page. Declared site access supports tracking on compatible chat websites. Optional custom-domain and provider access serves the feature you choose. Licence-service access handles paid activation and validation. Built for desktop Chrome. Site redesigns and permission choices can affect detection; custom tracking does not guarantee prompt/model counts on every interface. Suggested shortcuts are Ctrl+Shift+Y for the dashboard and Ctrl+Shift+U for Focus, with Command on Mac. Review Chrome's assignments if shortcuts conflict. Incognito access is off by default. If you enable it, extension settings, including optional history, apply there. Private windows do not automatically erase extension records. There is no native-app tracking, calendar sync, team surveillance or cloud dashboard. The measurements cannot prove authorship, billable work or better concentration. START WITH ONE NORMAL SESSION Install, follow onboarding and use a supported site normally. Open the dashboard for your first result, set a goal or pin a useful prompt. No history capture, API key or purchase is needed to start measuring. For study, review your research time. For writing, rate usefulness rather than authorship.
