FKN WebExtension

Companion for the FKN platform: apps you authorize can read and act on sites for you, always behind an explicit permission prompt.

FKN is the companion browser extension for the FKN platform (https://fkn.app), a privacy-first platform where the web apps you use can do more in your browser, and the cloud is an option rather than a requirement. By itself this extension does nothing visible. It is a capability provider: it lets a web app you choose, and explicitly authorize, act on other websites on your behalf, and only ever after you allow it. Think of it as a permission-gated automation bridge between an app you trust and the sites you tell it to work with. What an authorized app can ask FKN to do for you: - Embed another website inside the app's own view, and restyle it. - Read elements on a page (for example, the text or state of a control). - Act on a page on your behalf: click a button, fill in a field, control video playback. - Relay your own already-logged-in session into the app (for example, play a video through a subscription you already pay for), without handing the app your password. You are always in control: - Anything that touches a site in a way you would notice asks first, in plain language, naming the app and the exact sites it applies to. - Requests are grouped into four categories, and you answer the category: Interaction (click, type, hover), Site data (read the text and details a page shows), Network (load and send data using your signed-in session), and Evaluation (inject unfiltered styles or code). One approval covers that category on the sites named, so you are asked once instead of once per click. - You decide, per category, whether to allow it once, for the session, or always. - Actions with nothing sensitive in them, such as embedding a page in a frame or applying a filtered restyle, run without asking. They are still written to the log. - Every capability an app uses is written to an on-device activity log (kept 30 days) that you can review, and you can revoke any grant at any time, per app and per category. Your data, your device: - The extension has no account, no analytics, and no tracking. - No remote code: everything, including any WebAssembly, ships inside the package. - Nothing leaves your device except the specific action you approved, sent to the website it targets.
