Overview
Add furigana readings above every kanji on any web page and explain selected Japanese text with study cards.
Read real Japanese anywhere on the web, with the reading shown above each kanji. Shiritai adds furigana to Japanese text on any page: news, blogs, Wikipedia, and social media. Turn it on while you read and off when you're done. • Furigana on any page: show or hide readings above kanji with one click • Look up any word: click it—or hover if it's inside a link—to see its reading, definitions in six languages, pitch accent, and pronunciation. Common multi-word expressions are recognized too • Save for review: keep a word, its meaning, and the original sentence for later; you can also copy the word card • Color by JLPT level: see at a glance which words are N5 and which are N1 • Hide what you know: set your JLPT level and readings disappear up to it • Explain with Shiritai: select a sentence, right-click or press Alt+S, and get a full study card with translation, grammar, vocabulary, and kanji • Reading comfort: reading ruler, word spacing (分かち書き), text size controls Built for N5–N2 learners who want to read real Japanese, not just textbook examples. Dictionary: JMdict (EDRDG), with Warodai for Russian; Portuguese and some Russian meanings are machine translated. Pitch accents: kanjium (CC BY-SA 4.0). Chinese glosses: Tomoshi open data (CC BY-SA 4.0). Kanji levels: kanji-data (MIT).
