Overview

Costco precious metals: live spot premium, buyer payouts, one-click cart, purchase limits, order export. Subscribers only.

Costco Tools is a companion for Costco members who subscribe to RestockBotAlerts. Everything it does happens inside your own logged-in Costco account, and it runs only on costco.com. KNOW WHETHER A PRECIOUS-METAL PRICE IS ACTUALLY GOOD Open the precious-metals category page and you see the current gold and silver rates straight away, with the time they were read, so you can tell whether it is worth looking further before opening anything. On a product page the panel shows the live spot price for that metal and how far over spot Costco is asking - the number that actually decides whether a price is good, because the dollar figure moves with the market all day. It shows both figures, so neither can be misread: the market rate for one troy ounce, and what this particular bar, coin or tube is worth at that rate. The premium is worked out against the second one. It also shows how that premium compares with the same item's own history: the average markup in dollars, how many times it has restocked and since when, and when it last came back in stock. You choose the window - this month, the last 30 days, this quarter, year to date, or all time - in Settings. SEE WHAT BUYERS ARE PAYING The panel lists what precious-metal buyers are currently paying for that specific item, and marks the best of them, so you can see the spread without opening anything else. When we cannot get a fresh figure the row says so instead of showing a stale one. If you always sell to the same buyer, you can pick them in Settings and their price is the one shown first, instead of whoever happens to be paying most. When that buyer has no price for an item, the panel shows the best it has and tells you whose price you are looking at. MAKE THE PANEL YOURS Click any section header to fold it away, and it stays folded next time. In Settings you can remove the price-history and wish-list sections from the panel altogether if you never use them. The spot price and what buyers pay always stay - they are the reason the panel exists. BUY A DROP WITHOUT THE EXTRA CLICKS The panel shows a row of quantity buttons, each already priced with its running dollar total. Click the quantity you want and the extension adds it to your cart and takes you straight to Costco's checkout page, in one action instead of four. The same quantity buttons sit on the precious-metals category listing, under each item, so you can pick a quantity and go straight to checkout without opening the product page first. Costco's own Add to Cart button is left exactly as it is; ours sits below it and does a different job - it lets you choose how many, shows you the total before you commit, and skips the cart. It stops at the checkout page. The extension never places an order and never submits a payment. The checkout form is Costco's own, and you fill it in and submit it yourself. HAVE YOUR CARD READY AT CHECKOUT, WITHOUT LEAVING IT LYING AROUND You can save your payment cards in the extension, and they will be waiting when you reach Costco's checkout. Your cards are encrypted with a password only you know, and they never leave your computer - not when you save them, not when you use them, not ever. We cannot read them. Your card password is separate from your Costco Tools sign-in, so being signed in is not enough to see your cards. At checkout the extension copies one value at a time to your clipboard - usually just the security code - so you can paste it into Costco's own payment form. It does not fill Costco's payment fields for you, and it clears your clipboard about a minute and a half later while the page is still open. This is optional and does nothing unless you choose to use it. Removing the extension erases every saved card. KNOW WHAT YOU CAN ACTUALLY ORDER Costco applies two separate limits to precious metals, and the extension treats them differently because we are certain about one and not the other. Costco states on the product page itself how many units of that item you may buy in 24 hours. The extension reads your own order history on your own computer and, once you have used that up, greys out the quantity buttons and tells you when the item becomes orderable again. This is the limit Costco is known to enforce, and it cannot be switched off. Costco also publishes a limit of 8 precious-metal items to one address per day. The panel counts your recent orders against it - but we cannot verify Costco actually applies it, so in Settings you can tell the extension to stop enforcing that one and decide for yourself. Turning it off does not make an order succeed; Costco may still refuse it. When it cannot read your order history it says so plainly instead of guessing a number. A CART GUARD, BECAUSE SKIPPING A CONFIRMATION SCREEN IS NOT FREE Going straight to checkout also skips the last place you would have noticed something else sitting in your cart, and precious metals are an expensive place to make that mistake. So when your cart is not empty the extension withholds the one-click buttons rather than letting you use them, shows you what is in there, and offers to clear it - with the item count and the dollar value printed on the button itself, so nothing is destroyed without you reading what it was. SAVE TO YOUR COSTCO WISH LISTS Add any product to one of your own Costco wish lists from its page, or by typing an item number, and create a new list on the spot. It writes to YOUR Costco wish list through Costco's own system. We keep no copy. EXPORT YOUR PRECIOUS-METAL ORDERS Send your Costco gold, silver and platinum purchases - online and in-warehouse - to your personal RestockBotAlerts dashboard, so you can review and organise them in one place. Start it from the extension icon and it opens your orders page with the export window already up. Only precious-metal orders are exported. Everything else is filtered out on your own computer and never transmitted: orders without precious metals are skipped before their details are even retrieved, in-store receipts are checked in your browser and discarded if they do not match, and in a mixed order only the metal line items are sent. We never receive a list of your other purchases. Active subscription required. The extension only works for RestockBotAlerts subscribers. It does not collect your Costco password - you sign in to the extension with a one-time email code - and it does not track your browsing. Not affiliated with or endorsed by Costco Wholesale.
