Berea examines what YouTube preachers and teachers actually claim, against what Scripture actually says. Open any sermon, teaching or commentary. Berea reads the video's transcript, pulls out the checkable claims with timestamps, and lets you pick which ones to examine. For each one it searches a complete Bible on your own device and shows you the verses — supporting, in tension, and worth studying yourself — alongside a plain-language reading of how the speaker compares. It is a study aid, not a verdict machine. The point is to send you back to the text, the way the Bereans did in Acts 17:11. TWO WAYS TO USE IT • Claims — reads the transcript, lists every checkable claim with its timestamp, and you pick which to examine against Scripture. • Ask — type a question about the video in your own words and get an answer grounded in the same offline Bible search. Ask works on any video, not only sermons. On a video about business, politics or science it will tell you what Scripture has to say that bears on the subject — and when Scripture simply does not address it, it says so plainly instead of stretching a verse to fit. A GUIDED START The first time you open the panel, a short walkthrough takes you through both modes — adding your key, opening a video, extracting claims, checking one, and asking your first question. It highlights the control you need next and tells you what will move it on, so you are never left wondering whether it is waiting for you or you are waiting for it. Nothing is blocked while it runs: the highlighted control stays live, so you use the app rather than watching a demo of it. Skip it at any point, or bring it back later from settings — it starts again from the beginning when you do. WHAT MAKES IT DIFFERENT • The Bible search runs entirely on your device. A complete Bible with keyword and meaning-based search plus Treasury of Scripture Knowledge cross-references — 31,102 verses, no network calls for scripture, ever. • Verses are grounded, not invented. The AI never types the words of a verse: it names the passage, and the extension inserts the text from the Bible on your device. It cannot misquote — at worst it declines to quote. • Every answer says how close Scripture actually is to your question: it addresses this directly, a related principle applies, or Scripture is silent on it. A silent answer cites nothing. • Answers come in plain language by default — short sentences, ordinary words, terms explained as they are used. Switch to full detail if you would rather. The verses and the reasoning are the same either way; only the writing changes. • Seven doctrinal lenses — neutral/Berean, historic creeds, Reformed, Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, Pentecostal/Charismatic, dispensational — so you can see how a claim reads from a given tradition. • Seven Bibles in six languages: World English Bible and King James in English, plus Louis Segond and Ostervald (French), Reina-Valera (Spanish), Luther (German), Riveduta (Italian) and Almeida (Portuguese). All public domain. • A few books in some of those editions number their verses differently from the English text the search is built on — Psalms in the French and German Bibles, and three more in the German. Those books are shown in English rather than risk showing you the wrong verse under the right reference, and the translation picker names which ones before you choose. • The whole interface, and the AI's answers, follow your language. • Read-aloud for every verdict, in your language, using your system voices. • Export any session to Markdown or CSV. • Conversations are kept on your device only, for as long as you choose — one day, a week, a month, until you delete them, or not at all. YOU BRING YOUR OWN KEY There is no subscription, no credits and no account. Berea runs on your own Google Gemini API key, which you create at aistudio.google.com in about a minute. Berea never charges you for anything; any usage of the Gemini API is between you and Google, under their terms. Your key is stored only in your browser and is sent only to Google — never to us. We run no server. PRIVACY No analytics. No tracking. No account. Berea only runs on YouTube watch pages, and only once you open its panel. Verse lookups never leave your browser at all. Your questions, the answers and the transcripts they rely on are stored on your own device for as long as your history setting says, and can be deleted at any time from settings.
