Overview

See how ChatGPT picks and cites its sources: fan-out, citations, brand mentions, the runner-up ledger. Your own session only.

See exactly how ChatGPT picks the sources behind an answer, and whether your brand made it in. FanoutFox reads your own ChatGPT session and shows the searches it ran, every page it fetched, which of those earned a citation, and which brands got mentioned in the text people read. Everything stays in your browser. It's free and there's nothing to sign up for. WHAT PROBLEM IT SOLVES ChatGPT doesn't run your keyword. It rewrites your question into its own queries, fetches pages you never see, and works out on its own which brands get mentioned. Rank tracking measures a results page your buyers increasingly never open. FanoutFox opens the box, whether you call it GEO, AI SEO or ChatGPT rank tracking. HOW IT WORKS Install, pin the fox, and set up a workspace with your brand, your domains and a few competitors. Agencies run one per client. Then use ChatGPT as normal and click the fox on any answer that searched the web, even mid-answer. Captures save locally. WHAT YOU GET • The fan-out. Every search the engine ran, almost never your keyword, with the recency window each asked for and the sites it went to directly. • The shortlist. The candidates ChatGPT writes down before it searches, scored against who got cited, so you know whether you were ever in the running. • Sources versus citations. Dozens of pages get fetched and a handful get cited. You see which side of the line you're on, and what share of each domain's reads earned a citation. • Mentions. The exact sentence that mentioned you or a rival, because a mention sits in the words buyers read while a citation is a link most never click. Tell it every way your brand gets written and they all count as one. • The runner-up ledger. Per claim, who won the citation and who came second, including you. • The trail, shopping, local packs and Reddit intel. The path from question to answer in the model's own words, product cards versus text mentions, the venues behind a map answer with who supplied each listing, and the threads that fed it. • Change over time. Pin a baseline, re-run the prompt later, and diff who entered, who dropped out and who moved from mentioned to cited. Personalised answers get flagged, since your placement there is a mirror rather than the market. Export to CSV, Markdown, JSON or a one page brief. CHATGPT ONLY ChatGPT keeps rebuilding its answer format, and keeping capture faithful through that is the whole job, so the tool puts everything into one engine. Perplexity capture is retired, and captures you already saved stay readable and still export. PRIVACY Most SEO tools want your data on their servers. This one has no server. It reads only your own sessions, saves captures in your browser's own storage, and uploads nothing. The session token your browser already holds is used once to fetch your own conversation, then discarded. A domain rating and Reddit thread stats are the only outbound calls, and both switch off. Uninstall it and every trace goes too. WHO IT'S FOR SEO and GEO practitioners, content and PR teams, agencies reporting on client visibility, and founders who want to know whether AI answers recommend them or a rival. RECENT UPDATES • v2.0.3. Rebuilt from the ground up. Overview opens with a brief that reads the verdict for you, the fan-out is captured while the answer is still generating, and every query shows its recency window and the sites it targeted. Map answers name who supplied each venue, Reddit intel shows the threads behind a Reddit search, and Settings gains backup and restore, so an update can never cost you your library. ChatGPT only from this release, and saved Perplexity captures stay readable. Special thanks to Olivier from Resoneo for some very thorough compatibility testing. • v1.1.14. ChatGPT moved its list of searches out of the saved conversation and into the live response, so the fan-out card went quiet. It reads both now, plus a third format. A user's screenshot found that, not my tests. The full changelog, the research it's built on and a manual download live at fanoutfox.com.
