ContextECF Halo has two parts: the Chrome extension and a small local runtime on your computer. Install the runtime first, then open the extension and click Connect Halo. Mac runtime: Download the ContextECF Halo Mac installer from: https://enterprisecontextfabric.com/halo Install it, then open the ContextECF Halo Chrome extension and click Connect Halo. Windows and PC runtime: npm install -g @contextecf/guardian-cli@latest guardian setup Then install or open the ContextECF Halo Chrome extension and click Connect Halo. A native Windows installer is planned for a later release; npm is the supported PC runtime path for this release. Each browser profile connects separately, so repeat Connect in every profile where you want protection. Choose Halo if you want the simple default experience: local prompt checks, safer rewrites, Send as-is agency, and metadata-only receipts for supported browser AI tools. Choose cwork if you also want approved local context bundles, source authorization, continuity across longer AI work sessions, and context-workflow receipts. cwork uses the same Chrome extension and local connection flow, but the extension adopts the cwork name after connecting to the cwork runtime. Latest release note: Halo and cwork now share one Chrome extension without confusing the installed product experience.
