IntelliScribe AI gets your words onto the page — spoken or typed — privately, for free, right inside Chrome. DICTATE ANYWHERE Press Ctrl+Shift+Space (Cmd+Shift+Space on Mac, Alt+Shift+D on a Chromebook) in any text field, talk, press it again. A small bar shows what it heard, the text is inserted at your cursor, and a copy lands on your clipboard in case the site won't accept it. Works in email, docs, forms, chat, code editors — anywhere you can type. Pick Fast, Balanced or Accurate, and dictate in any of 18 languages, from Spanish and French to Arabic, Hindi, Chinese and Vietnamese. SPELLING AND GRAMMAR, CHECKED ON YOUR DEVICE A small pen in the corner counts what it found. Misspellings, wrong words (their/they're, its/it's), missing apostrophes and commas, capitalisation, filler words (um, uh) — underlined as you type, fixed with one click, or all at once with "Fix all". Nothing you type is sent anywhere: the whole checker ships inside the extension. Add your own names and jargon so they are never flagged, and turn individual rules off. WRITE A WHOLE DOCUMENT The Writing Pad is a full-page, distraction-free editor that checks itself as you go — open it from the right-click menu or the side panel. The same editor is also on the web at intelliscribe-app.netlify.app/app/, with on-device dictation too — no extension and no account needed, and nothing leaves your device unless you add a key, sign in, or join a class. TRANSCRIBED ON YOUR DEVICE Speech recognition runs locally with OpenAI's Whisper model (WebGPU or WebAssembly). Your audio never leaves your computer by default. The model downloads once and works offline afterwards. FREE, NO ACCOUNT NEEDED No subscription, no usage caps, no sign-up. Sign in — with Google, or an email and password — only if you want your history and your keys synced between your computers, or to join or run a class. Sign in right in the extension, or in a normal browser tab that hands the session back to it. OPTIONAL AI — WITH YOUR OWN KEY Paste a key from Google Gemini, Groq, OpenRouter, Claude or OpenAI (the extension recognises which one). Then long recordings can be transcribed in the cloud (with any of them except Claude), and the pen menu and right-click menu gain Fix grammar, Rewrite, Professional, Friendly, Confident, Shorten and Summarize — on your key, on your terms. EVERYTHING YOU DICTATE, KEPT PER PAGE The History tab lists what you dictated, by day, with a filter for the site you're on, so you can find and reuse it. Each recording is kept on your computer for 2 days (1–7 days, off, or in your own account when you sign in — your choice), so you can play it back or re-transcribe it if the words came out wrong. WORKS ON ANY TEXT Paste text or upload .txt / .md / .srt / .vtt — every tool works on it, not just recordings. Upload audio and video files too. YOUR LOOK Four colour schemes — IntelliScribe, Inkline, Sayso and Blurt — plus light and dark mode. CLASSES FOR SCHOOLS A teacher creates a class — on the website or in the extension — adds their own AI key once, and shares an invite link or this month's 6-digit class code. Students join with one click and a confirmation screen that tells them exactly what their teacher can see. A teacher can also paste their class list — the block of email addresses Schoology, PowerSchool or a spreadsheet already gives them, up to 200 — and then only the students on it join straight away; anyone else with the code or link waits for the teacher to approve them, with none of the class's settings applying and no key spent until they do. The list emails nobody, and it puts nobody in a class who has not asked to be there: students still join themselves and still see the confirmation first. Pasting the address of a student who is already waiting is the teacher's yes, so it lets them in (unless the class is full or archived, or they have joined a class since asking, when they keep waiting). The teacher chooses what the class can use (writing checks, cloud dictation, AI grammar fixing, AI writing tools), sets daily limits, and sees who used the AI and how much; opening a student's text is recorded, and requests are deleted after 30 days, unless the teacher saves one, which keeps it for a year. Students without the extension can use the class in the browser. Signing in on another computer brings the class, its settings and the teacher's key with the account: a teacher has nothing to set up again, and a student presses OK once on the notice that says what their teacher has turned on. A teacher can never add a student, and a student can leave at any time. MADE FOR CLASSROOMS, EASY ON IT Dictation and writing checks run on the device. Nothing leaves it unless you add an AI key, sign in (to sync your history or keep recordings in your account), or a student joins a class. No account needed for dictation and writing checks. No ads, no analytics, no tracking. School record systems like PowerSchool and Infinite Campus, and banking and password sites, are left alone even when checks are allowed everywhere. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN WORDS - activeTab + scripting: show the dictation bar or the writing underlines on the page you invoke them on. - Optional site access: only if you say yes during setup, so the underlines appear without pressing the shortcut on each page.
