Work with confidential documents without sending them to a cloud AI. Local AI Workspace is a notebook for the files you would not paste into a public chatbot. It is designed for people whose work involves confidential material, such as client files or patient-related notes. You choose the sources, and an AI model running on your own computer answers your questions and shows exactly where each answer came from. How it works Add your own documents, spreadsheets, web pages and images to a notebook, then tick the ones you want each answer to use. Every answer carries numbered citations. Click one to open the passage in the source and check it yourself. When you want an overview, Studio can turn the selected sources into a structured report or FAQ. You can back up a notebook to a file you control. Side panel Open the side panel next to a web page or email and click "Read this page" to ask questions, get a summary or draft a reply. Nothing is read until you click, and a page is saved to a notebook only if you choose to save it. Document review Upload a PDF or Word file, pick a review perspective, and get observations linked to the evidence in the text. This is decision support, not legal advice. Privacy The side panel and Notebook connect only to AI engines on your own computer. Sources, embeddings and chats are stored in your browser on this device and are not uploaded to our servers. We do not collect personal data or run analytics. The one optional online feature, Search Internet, is off by default and fetches DuckDuckGo results only when you turn it on. Backups never include API keys, embedding vectors or chat history. What you need An AI engine on your computer, such as Ollama, and the models you choose to download: a chat model and an embedding model. The extension does not bundle or pick models for you. A short guide inside the Notebook suggests model sizes for different computers. Good to know This is a tool, not a compliance certification. If your work is covered by professional-secrecy or data-protection rules, check them against your own setup. Free to use. An optional supporter license helps fund development.
