Overview

YouTube parental controls for families and schools. Block channels, videos, and Shorts, and set every rule from one dashboard.

Vidward is a parental control for YouTube, built for families and schools. Decide what plays on youtube.com from a private dashboard, and Vidward applies your rules automatically in each linked desktop browser, before the page loads. Set everything from your own device: - Block YouTube channels, individual videos, or any video with a title containing words you choose - Block or hide YouTube Shorts, Explore, and auto-generated Mixes - Set video length limits, hide comments, or hide live chat - Turn on approved-only mode to limit viewing to the channels you allow - While watch history is on, authorized adults see a clear record of what was watched and what Vidward blocked Setup takes about a minute: 1. Install Vidward in the browser your child or student uses. 2. Link that browser with a 6-character code from the Vidward dashboard. 3. Set and change the rules from your own device, anytime. Because the rules live on the dashboard, there are no local YouTube filters for a child or student to find or edit. Vidward keeps a local cache, so your rules keep working even if the browser briefly loses its connection. For parents and for schools: - Parents get straightforward parental controls for YouTube at home. - Schools and classrooms use the same linked-browser setup for supervised student viewing. Centralized deployment and roster integrations are not part of this release. Privacy and data: Vidward connects to YouTube and vidward.app only. It has no ads and no third-party analytics. Device linking and rule sync require a Vidward account. Watch history is sent while the dashboard’s watch-history setting is on, and an authorized adult can turn it off at any time. Blocked watch attempts are reported so families and school staff can see how their rules are working. Vidward works on youtube.com in supported desktop browsers. Mobile browsers and YouTube Kids are not currently supported. Vidward is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by YouTube or Google LLC. YouTube is a trademark of Google LLC.
