Know what it's worth before you bid or buy. Snipe by CHOIL puts market value on screen while you shop for knives and EDC. On a Whatnot live auction, "Check prices" opens a capture box so you can show Snipe the item; it combines that image with relevant on-screen lot details to identify and price it. On an eBay item page it can read the listing, and on any other page you can right-click to check the item you're looking at. WHERE IT WORKS • Whatnot live auctions — "Check prices" opens the capture box, then identifies and prices the item using both the selected image and relevant on-screen details. The result includes a deal meter against the current bid. • eBay item pages — the overlay opens on the listing with the item named and a "Check prices" button; press it to see the market value. • Anywhere else — select an item's name (or right-click the page) and choose "Snipe value". The overlay opens on that page with your selection as the item, ready to check. Snipe only touches that page when you ask. WHAT YOU GET • On-demand value card — CHOIL's median, typical low–high range, and sample size for the item in front of you. • Deal meter (Whatnot and eBay) — once you've checked an item, it grades the price being asked against market value: green (steal), yellow (fair), red (over market). On other pages there's no asking price to grade, so you get the value without a meter. • Check prices — one action always opens a capture box. Snipe combines the selected image with relevant on-screen item text to make its best identification, then prices it through CHOIL's normal market lookup. Up to 3 credits. • Sold prices from your own eBay session — eBay shows sold listings only to signed-in shoppers, so Snipe looks them up the way you would: in your own browser, using the eBay session you are already signed in to. Sign in to eBay and Snipe can include sold prices when it finds enough matching listings — it cannot promise a match. The sold-price lookup itself is never charged. The value check around it is: if the search runs and simply finds nothing to go on, it still costs its credits, because the searches behind that answer were really made. What is refunded is a check we couldn't deliver — the price providers were unreachable, or something broke on our end. A vision identify you ran first is a separate charge either way. YOUR EBAY SIGN-IN STAYS YOURS Snipe never asks for your eBay password and never shares your eBay login with CHOIL. The request for sold listings goes from your browser to eBay, carrying the same session you use when you browse eBay yourself. What comes back to CHOIL is the search title Snipe started from, the search terms it built, the time of the fetch, and each sold listing it read off that results page — title, sold price, currency, sold date, link, and condition where eBay shows one. CHOIL stores those rows against your own account and uses them in your price checks for that item. Because they come from a session only you are signed in to, they are not shared with other members and do not become part of CHOIL's pooled market data. HOW IT WORKS Snipe runs entirely in your own browser, on the items you're already shopping. On Whatnot and eBay it reads the on-screen item title (and, on Whatnot, the current bid) to look up a value from CHOIL. On any other site it does nothing until you open it yourself — "Snipe value" in the right-click menu, "Snipe this page" in the toolbar popup, or the keyboard shortcut — and then, and only then, it reads the item you pointed at. As part of that same lookup — a valuation you asked for, on the item in front of you — it asks eBay, from your browser and under your own signed-in session, for recent sold listings matching the item, and sends the prices it reads there to CHOIL. That request is made once per value check and is given a few seconds to answer; Snipe does not crawl eBay, run searches you did not ask for, or fetch anything while you are idle. It never bids for you and never takes any action on your behalf. A selected screen region is captured only when YOU click "Check prices" and confirm the box; it is processed in the moment and not stored. PRICING • New accounts start with 20 CHOIL credits — about 10 value checks. That's a one-time starter grant, not a daily allowance. • A value check costs 2 credits, and only when we have to go fetch fresh prices: a check we can answer from cache costs nothing, and the deal meter is free once you've checked the lot. A search that runs and finds nothing still costs its credits — the searches behind that answer were really made. A check we couldn't deliver is refunded: the price providers were unreachable, or something broke on our end. • CHOIL Pro: 100 credits added to your balance each month, about 50 value checks, plus your check history. They add to what you've already got rather than replacing it, and nothing you haven't spent expires — so if you only used 60 last month, this month starts at 140. Checks spend that whole Pro balance before they touch any credits you've bought separately. • Credits: vision identify and deep/cold valuations are metered on CHOIL credits, the same per-use AI pricing as the rest of CHOIL. You'll need a free CHOIL account (choil.app) to connect the extension. Connecting takes one click and uses a revocable token — never your password.
