Your own Pokémon ranch. Collect Pokémon, keep them in your meadow, and see them there on every new tab.

Your own Pokémon ranch, there on every new tab. PokéRanch turns the new tab page into the near paddock of a ranch: a pixel-art meadow running back to a split-rail fence, with a small barn and a windmill on the horizon under a few peaks. You choose who lives there, put them wherever you like, and find them waiting each time you open a tab. FILLING THE MEADOW The Pokédex holds 386 Pokémon, from Bulbasaur to Deoxys. Find one by name, number or type and drag it out onto the grass. Keep one of each, or a whole herd of the same one. Every resident is an animated sprite that keeps its own time, so four Charmander standing together are not breathing in step. The field has depth. The further up the screen, the further away, so a Pokémon dragged towards you grows and steps in front of the ones behind it. Draw a box across the grass to gather several at once and move them together. THE DAY OUTSIDE The meadow is lit by the sun where you are. It turns through dawn, day, dusk and night with the real day, so a December afternoon goes dark on the ranch when it does outside your window. At night the sky fills with stars, fireflies come out, and a lamp is lit in the barn windows. LOOKING IN ON THEM - Give any resident a nickname. - Turn one around to face the other way. - Open its entry to see it stood against a height chart, with its types, its number and its name in other languages. - Set the meadow to True to height and everyone stands at their Pokédex size, so an Onix towers over a Diglett. - Release one, or a whole boxful at once. THE CAMERA Press the camera and the shelf clears away, three seconds are counted off, and a picture of the meadow, with none of the buttons in it, lands in your downloads - at the size of your window, or at 1280 × 800. IN YOUR LANGUAGE The ranch speaks 36 languages. It picks up yours from the browser, or you can choose one in Settings. WITHOUT A MOUSE Enter carries a Pokémon from the Pokédex into the meadow, the arrow keys walk it about, and a single letter opens each thing on the shelf: P for the Pokédex, T for the camera, S for settings. If your system asks for reduced motion, the sprites stand still. GETTING IN TOUCH PokéRanch is free.
