Instagram Public Username Capture automatically records the usernames of public Instagram profiles you browse to a Google Sheet you control — no button to click, no manual copy-paste. HOW IT WORKS - Runs only on instagram.com. - Watches the page as you navigate (Instagram is a single-page app), and detects when you land on a profile URL shaped like instagram.com/<username>/. - Confirms the page has actually loaded that profile before logging, so you don't get blank or premature rows. - Skips non-profile pages automatically: posts, reels, stories, explore, DMs, settings, and account pages. - Skips private or unavailable profiles — it only logs profiles whose public content is visible. - Checks the Sheet for existing usernames first, so the same profile is never logged twice. WHAT GETS LOGGED Each new profile adds one row to your Google Sheet with four columns: 1. Username — the Instagram handle from the profile URL. 2. Employee Name — the name (or email) of the Google account that authorized the extension, so you know who captured it. 3. Profile URL — the normalized instagram.com/<username>/ link. 4. Captured At — an ISO timestamp of when it was logged. SETUP 1. Install the extension and open a public Instagram profile. 2. Sign in with the Google account that has edit access to your target Sheet when prompted. 3. The extension writes to a Sheet tab named "input" or "Sheet1" — make sure one exists with those four columns as headers. 4. That's it — browse Instagram normally and new profiles you visit are captured automatically. PERMISSIONS - instagram.com (host permission): to read the current page's URL and detect profile pages. - sheets.googleapis.com and Google OAuth (identity permission): to authenticate the signed-in Google account and append rows to the configured spreadsheet. No data is sent anywhere except directly from your browser to your own Google Sheet via Google's official Sheets API. The developer does not operate a server and does not receive or store your data.
