Current Tab History - In-Page Trail
Overview
Stop losing your place in a tab. See your current tab history, preview earlier pages, and jump back without repeated Back clicks.
Press Alt + H to activate Current Tab History - In-Page Trail User Interface (customization for key-bind through settings or popup) - In-Page Trail shows a clean page trail for the current tab, so you can see where you came from and jump back to the right step without pressing Back over and over. - Use it when you are deep in docs, search results, product pages, dashboards, GitHub issues, or research links and need to recover your place quickly. ACCESS EXTENSION POPUP TOOLBAR: 1. Look at the top-right of Chrome, near the address bar. 2. Click the Extensions button in the toolbar. 3. Find Current Tab History - In-Page Trail. 4. Click the Current Tab History - In-Page Trail icon to open the popup toolbar. 5. Optional: click the pin icon next to Current Tab History - In-Page Trail so it stays visible beside the address bar. TRAIL ACTIONS: Each trail entry supports: - Jump to this step: navigates the current tab back to the selected page - Preview: opens an in-page preview pane when the site allows it - Open in new tab: opens the selected URL in a separate tab - Open in new window: opens the selected URL in a new browser window - Copy URL: copies the selected trail URL to the clipboard PRIVACY MODEL: - Does not use telemetry, tracking, analytics, remote code, or developer-owned servers. - Page trails and settings stay on your device. - Records page titles, URLs, favicon URLs, and timestamps only. - Does not read page content, form data, keystrokes, screenshots, or personal files. SESSION-ONLY TRAILS: Tab trails are session-only. They clear when the browser closes, and a tab's trail is deleted when that tab closes. Private/incognito tab trails are kept in memory only and are never written to disk. LIMITATIONS: - The in-page shortcut and trail overlay work on normal web pages. - Browser UI pages, extension pages, browser stores, devtools, PDF viewers, and some restricted pages may block content scripts. - Some websites may also block embedded previews. - When page shortcuts are unavailable, use the extension popup toolbar to adjust settings or open options.
