SEO Readout reads the page you are on and tells you, in plain words, what is right and what is wrong with it for search. One click, one score, quick wins first. WHAT IT CHECKS • Title and meta description: length in characters and in pixels, the way Google actually cuts them, plus duplicates and placeholders. • Headings: one H1, no skipped levels, nothing hidden, the full outline as a tree. • Images: missing alt, placeholder alt, missing width and height (layout shift), a lazy-loaded hero. • Canonical: missing, relative, pointing elsewhere, http on an https page. • Indexability: robots meta, the X-Robots-Tag header, and robots.txt for the URL you are on. Most extensions miss the header. A noindex page gets a banner across the top so you cannot miss it. • Structured data: every JSON-LD block is parsed, and each item is checked for the properties Google needs before it will show a rich result. Broken references, badly formatted dates and relative links are caught too. • Social sharing: every Open Graph and X card tag with its fallback, and a preview of how the link card will look when it is shared, with the real image loaded and its size checked. • SERP preview: the Google result on desktop and mobile, with the title and description editable so you can try a rewrite and watch the width meter. THE SCORE Four areas are each scored out of 100, then weighted into one overall number with a grade. Fails cost more than warnings. Passing checks are folded away so the first thing you see is what to fix. Quick wins, the one-line changes, come first. EXPORT Copy the whole report as Markdown for a ticket or a client email, as JSON, the heading outline as text, or the score card as a PNG for Slack. WHAT IT WILL NEVER DO • Send page content, URLs or anything else to a server. Every check runs inside the popup. • Ask for an account, a login or a licence key. There is no paid tier. • Open a tab on install, on update, or ever. No changelog pop-ups, no donation asks. Safe to open in front of a client. • Ask for permission to read every site. It runs on the tab you click it on, and only then. Two requests leave the popup, both made by the page to its own site: a HEAD of the current URL to read X-Robots-Tag, and a GET of /robots.txt.
