TSN Safe Connect

Displays fullscreen safety alerts on the Chromebook when the device enters an alert area published by your organization.

TSN Safe Connect displays fullscreen emergency and safety alerts on managed Chromebooks. When your organization publishes an alert for a geographic area, every device located inside that area shows the alert immediately, on top of whatever the user is doing, and keeps the screen awake until the alert is cleared. The extension is intended for schools and organizations using The Scholastic Network (TSN) safety platform and is deployed by IT administrators through the Google Admin console. How it works • The administrator force-installs the extension and provides the API endpoint and enrollment token via managed policy — no user setup is required. • The device registers with the TSN platform and waits for approval. • Once approved, the extension periodically checks for active alerts and compares the device location with the alert areas. • When the device is inside an active alert area, a fullscreen alert window opens; it closes automatically when the alert ends or the device leaves the area. Permissions • Location: to determine whether the device is inside an alert area. Location is compared locally and only geofence events (inside/outside) are sent to the TSN server. • Power: to keep the display on while an alert is shown. • Storage and alarms: to store settings and schedule periodic checks. • Access to tsnvcs.com and thescholasticnetwork.com: to communicate with your organization's TSN server. The extension communicates only with the TSN server. No data is sold or shared with third parties. It is designed for organization-managed devices; it has no purpose on personal devices without a TSN account.
