You do not need to save the source first or send it to an editing service. The AI model is included in the extension. Once the source has loaded, the cut-out runs offline on your computer: with graphics acceleration (WebGPU) a typical photo is ready in about a second, and without it the processor needs 15 seconds or longer. Right-click the picture you want to use. 2. Choose "Remove background" from the menu. 3. Wait while the local model prepares and separates the subject. 4. Open the saved file from your Downloads folder. There is no manual brush or masking step. A clearly separated subject is a useful starting point; complicated scenes can leave unwanted edges. Check the result before putting it into a finished design. 💡 GOOD TO KNOW Can I make a transparent background for a product photo? Yes. Isolate the item, then place the saved cutout onto a layout in another app. The extension does not add a replacement scene. Can I use a transparent PNG for slides or a profile picture? Yes. Transparency lets you position the subject without its rectangular backdrop. Cropping and adding colors happen in your editor. Do I need a remove bg website? No. The background remover performs the separation locally, with no account or watermark. An internet connection may still be needed to retrieve the original image. 🔒 PRIVACY Picture processing stays on your device. The extension does not upload photos to a processing server. Storage remembers your output preference, and download access saves the result.
