Manually put tabs to sleep to free up memory without closing them.

Tab Suspender offers a straightforward, manual way to free up memory from unused tabs without closing them. Open the popup to view all tabs in the current window, then: - Sleep a single tab with one click - Use "Sleep Others" to keep your current tab active while sleeping the rest - Sleep an entire tab group at once, with groups shown in a list with names and colors - Use "Select" to choose specific tabs to sleep together - Click "Wake All" to instantly reactivate all sleeping tabs - See an approximate estimate of the memory freed by sleeping tabs - Click any tab in the list to jump directly to it Sleeping tabs stay in place in your tab strip, with their title and icon visible, and reload when clicked. Tab Suspender is minimal and transparent: - Fully manual—nothing sleeps unless you trigger it - Pinned tabs, tabs playing audio, and the active tab are never affected - No background processes—when the popup closes, the extension pauses, with no memory or CPU usage - Less than 14 KB installed, using vanilla JavaScript without dependencies or frameworks - No data collection whatsoever, maintaining your privacy within your browser It uses Chrome's native tab discarding mechanism, the same Chrome uses when under memory pressure. The extension itself consumes less memory than one sleeping tab.
