Overview

SEO meta tag checker with ranked fixes and Open Graph, X, Facebook, LinkedIn previews. In your browser, no account, no tracking.

MetaScout is a meta tag checker and social preview tool for the page you are on. It opens in Chrome's side panel, audits the page's SEO and social tags, ranks what to fix, and shows how the link will look on Google, X, Facebook and LinkedIn. It runs entirely in your browser, with no account, no analytics and no tracking. Made for SEO consultants, agencies, web developers and content teams who check pages before they ship. The audit, all four previews, the AI crawler check, the top 3 fixes and the reports are free. Pro adds the full suggestions list, full history with compare, batch audits and white-label reports. AUDIT CHECKLIST • Title and meta description gauges that measure characters and pixels, with the ideal zones marked • Canonical: missing, self-referencing, pointing elsewhere or conflicting duplicates • Meta robots, with a loud warning if the page is set to noindex by mistake • H1s, heading outline, lang, viewport, charset, favicon • Open Graph and Twitter card tags, with the fallback each platform will actually use • JSON-LD structured data types at a glance • Each check gets a pass, warn or fail chip, a High impact flag where it matters, and a one-sentence explanation in plain English • A score out of 100 with a grade, so you can see the page improve as you fix it SUGGESTIONS: WHAT TO FIX FIRST • Every failing or warning check becomes a fix, ranked by the score points it recovers • A how-to for each one, using the page's own numbers (63 characters, aim for 30 to 60) • Where the fix is a tag, a copy-ready head snippet prefilled from the page: canonical, og:title, twitter:card and more • A separate nice-to-have list for optional tags that do not affect the score • Free: the top 3 fixes and one nice-to-have, in full. Pro: every fix, every snippet SOCIAL PREVIEWS • Google desktop result with your real favicon and breadcrumb • Twitter card preview (X) for summary and summary_large_image, as declared • Facebook link preview as a feed card, and the LinkedIn share preview • All four stacked in one scroll, in light and dark, with platform-accurate truncation and chips that say which tag feeds each slot (og:title, title fallback, no image) AI CRAWLER AND ROBOTS CHECK • One explicit click fetches the site's robots.txt, sitemap.xml and llms.txt and reports found, soft 404 or unreachable • Shows whether GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, Google-Extended, CCBot and other AI crawlers are allowed, limited or blocked, read from the robots.txt rules • An excerpt of the llms.txt, if the site has one REPORTS YOUR CLIENTS CAN READ • Copy the whole audit as clean Markdown, top improvements first • Download a self-contained HTML report you can email as is, nothing to install on the other end WHEN PEOPLE REACH FOR IT • Catching a stray noindex or a duplicate canonical before the page ships • Checking the Open Graph preview after swapping an og:image, so the card is not broken on X or LinkedIn • Acting as the social media preview checker when a client asks why their link looks wrong on Facebook • Re-checking share previews after a CMS migration or a theme change • Seeing whether GPTBot or ClaudeBot can read the site before an AI-visibility conversation • Keeping the panel open while you edit tags, re-auditing, and watching the score climb FREE, FOREVER The full audit, all four previews, the robots and AI crawler check, the score, the top 3 fixes and one nice-to-have with their snippets, the Changes card with the first 3 changes since your last audit, and Markdown and HTML export with the top 3 improvements and a small "Generated by MetaScout" footer. PRO, FOR AGENCIES AND CONSULTANTS • Full suggestions list: every ranked fix with its how-to and snippet, in the panel and in every exported report • Full history: every change since the last audit, the page's whole timeline, and compare any two audits of a page • Batch audit: paste a list of URLs or import the site's sitemap.xml, and get one combined Markdown or HTML report • White-label reports: your agency name, logo, website and notes on every report, with the MetaScout footer switched off • One license key works on up to 3 browsers, no account. Current prices are shown in the Pro dialog inside the extension. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • It does not crawl whole sites, track rankings or measure page speed • It does not send page content, audit data or browsing history anywhere • It does not open promo tabs, show ads or carry affiliate links • It does not need a login; the Pro license key is the only credential PRIVATE BY DESIGN No analytics and no tracking. The audit is computed on your device and stays there. Requests to the audited site happen only for the preview images the page declares and, when you click the crawler check, its robots.txt, sitemap and llms.txt. The only other server the extension talks to is cardamon.org, and only for the optional Pro license: current prices when the Pro dialog opens, license activation with a periodic re-check, and support messages you choose to send. Those requests carry no page data. PERMISSIONS, IN PLAIN ENGLISH • Side panel: the whole UI lives in Chrome's side panel • activeTab + scripting: read the page you asked to audit, only when you click the icon or press the shortcut • storage: keeps your theme, settings and audit history on your device • Optional, asked once on your first click: allow it and every tab is audited as you switch to it; decline and MetaScout reads only the tabs you click it on. Change it any time in Settings. KEYBOARD Alt+Shift+S opens and audits, R re-audits, C copies the Markdown report, E exports HTML, 1 to 5 switch sections, 6 or B opens Batch. Support and the privacy policy are at cardamon.org/products/seo-meta-social-preview.
