Echo Wave is a private text-to-speech and translation assistant for Chrome. Select text on any webpage, open Echo Wave, and choose what you want to do: listen to the original text, translate it, or translate and immediately hear the result. Echo Wave is useful for reading articles, emails, documentation, educational materials, and foreign-language content without constantly switching between different tools. Key features: • Speak text selected on a webpage, pasted from the clipboard, or entered manually. • Translate selected text with Chrome’s built-in on-device translation technology. • Translate and speak the result in one convenient workflow. • Switch between the original and translated text for quick comparison. • Use voices provided by Chrome and your operating system. • Automatically detect the text language and select a compatible system voice. • Optionally download the reviewed Piper Ukrainian voice model with Lada, Mykyta, and Tetiana voices. • Adjust the language, voice, speech speed, volume, text size, appearance, and playback controls. • Continue playback after closing the popup. • Display translations in the popup, a floating card, a separate extension window, or Chrome’s side panel. • Download generated audio when the selected speech engine supports audio export. Privacy is a core part of Echo Wave. The Chrome Web Store version does not require an Echo Wave account, contains no advertising, and does not send your text to an Echo Wave server. Speech uses system voices or the optional local Piper model. Translation uses Chrome’s built-in on-device Translator API. System voices are provided by Chrome or your operating system and may be local or network-backed according to the selected voice provider’s terms. Chrome’s built-in translation requires a supported Chrome version, language pair, and downloaded language pack.
