If you use LinkedIn, X, or YouTube, you probably know this feeling. Your feed is full of promoted posts, "people you may know" suggestions, and so much AI-generated content that you end up scrolling past the real posts from real people without even noticing them. I built Zenfeed, a small Chrome extension, to fix that for myself, and now anyone can use it. Zenfeed declutters your LinkedIn, X, and YouTube feed, right in your browser. On LinkedIn and X it hides promoted and sponsored posts, filters out suggested-content modules, blocks posts by your own keywords, and gives your feed a timed break from AI content. On YouTube it does less, on purpose, and only after you switch it on: Rest from AI, your own keywords, and an optional switch ▲ for the Shorts shelf. Rest from AI This is the feature I built Zenfeed around. AI posts aren't a problem because they're bad. They're a problem because there are so many of them that they bury the posts from the people you actually follow. Turn on Rest from AI for 15 to 60 minutes and Zenfeed hides AI-related posts for that window, then brings everything back automatically when the timer ends, with a live countdown in the popup and on the toolbar badge. It works by matching keywords and heuristics against the post's text and its image alt text, so it isn't a perfect detector: it will miss some posts, and it will occasionally catch one that just happened to be about AI. Hide promoted and suggested posts, on LinkedIn and X One click hides "Promoted" and "Sponsored" posts on LinkedIn, and "Ad" and "Promoted" posts on X, along with recurring suggestion modules like "People you may know" and "Who to follow." These two filters are for LinkedIn and X only and don't do anything on YouTube. Nothing gets deleted. Every hidden post collapses into a small bar you can click to bring it back at any time. Block by your own keywords Add any keywords you want blocked and Zenfeed collapses matching posts as you scroll, on LinkedIn and X, and on YouTube once you've turned YouTube on. Matching is case-insensitive, and it all happens right on your device. On YouTube YouTube support is deliberately narrower than LinkedIn and X, and it starts switched off. Open the Zenfeed popup, turn on "YouTube filtering" under Sites, and Chrome will ask you to allow access to youtube.com. Until you do that, Zenfeed doesn't touch YouTube at all. Once it's on, Rest from AI and your keyword list both work on Home, Subscriptions, and search results, and there's a separate switch for hiding the Shorts shelf, which stays off until you turn it on too. Filtered videos are blurred in place rather than collapsed into a bar, so the grid keeps its shape, and clicking one brings it back. 100% local. No backend, no tracking, no account. It's a privacy-first tool: Zenfeed reads your feed's text locally in your browser to decide what to collapse. Nothing is sent anywhere, there's no account to create, and there's no analytics running in the background. It's free, it doesn't show ads, and there's no upsell — just a tool I built to fix my own feed. Works on LinkedIn, X (Twitter), and YouTube. Chrome only for now — this is a small, one-person project, so if something's not working right or you want a feature, I'd genuinely like to hear about it.
