Overview
Reads work-order vehicle data from your shop management software and helps you diagnose, plan, and document repairs with AI.
MECH Inspect AI analyzes your customers' service history, finds maintenance gaps, and generates targeted upsell recommendations, automatically. Quick 4-corner tire and brake inspections sent straight to the RO note. No more guessing what's due. No more missed revenue. ──────────> 🆕 What's new in this version: 3.17.0: New A/C Service Report on the Reports tab. TEST shows the target low and high pressures for that system the moment you enter the ambient temperature, then names the most likely cause from what your manifold gauges read. Static mode checks charge with the engine off. REPORT records vent temps, refrigerant recovered against the factory spec, recharge, oil and dye, filter, findings, and parts replaced, then attaches a color-coded report with a ready-made recommendation list. Tire, Brake, and A/C reports now drop a trackable video link into the note for each recommended service that has a matching video in your library. TSB and Recall Check moved to the Reports tab. 3.16.0: Findings and Sell are now permanent buttons on the Dash tab, so you can run them any time with no note needed, and results appear as cards on Dash. Paste scan reports straight from your clipboard (Paste button or Ctrl+V), and the photo library now loads reliably. ──────────> 💰 INTELLIGENT HISTORY ANALYSIS & UPSELL GENERATION The Problem: Customers come in for one thing, but you know they need more. The service history is buried in your shop software, and your advisor doesn't have time to dig through years of records to find what's overdue. The Solution: MECH Inspect analyzes the complete service history and generates prioritized recommendations in seconds. What It Finds: • Never-done services: maintenance with NO record in your shop's history (transmission fluid, differential service, coolant flush, and more) • Overdue maintenance: services past their manufacturer-recommended interval by time or mileage • Declined work: repairs the customer said "no" to previously that are now due • Upcoming maintenance: services approaching their interval so you can recommend proactively Recommendations rank by urgency. Safety first, then overdue maintenance, then preventive. Each one includes a complete talk track with benefits, risks of declining, and urgency level, so your advisor can present confidently without scrambling to explain why. Customer Insights at a Glance: MECH Inspect surfaces the customer's value to your shop: total visits, lifetime spend, average RO, days since last visit, and a color-coded tier stripe. Your advisor knows whether they're talking to a 12-year regular with $18K in lifetime spend or a first-time walk-in before the conversation even starts. Backed by Real Vehicle Data: MECH Inspect doesn't guess what the vehicle has. Recommendations check a verified per-vehicle equipment database covering drivetrain, power-steering type, timing belt vs. chain, electronic parking brake, even whether the engine actually uses a MAF sensor, so the panel never suggests a service that doesn't apply. Real Example: A 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee comes in for an oil change at 87,000 miles. MECH Inspect finds: Transmission fluid: NEVER DONE (due at 60k) Spark plugs: NEVER DONE (due at 100k, recommend now while accessible) Brake fluid flush: last done 3 years ago (overdue) Cabin air filter: declined 8 months ago Coolant flush: due at 90k (upcoming) That's 5 upsell opportunities from one oil change, each with a talk track ready to go. 🛞 TIRE HEALTH REPORT The Quick 4-Corner Inspection That Closes Itself Tap each tire, enter tread depth and any wear conditions (feathering, cupping, belt separation, free play, uneven wear, TPMS). Hit Send to Ticket and MECH Inspect attaches a color-coded report image to the open RO note and injects a shop-voiced recommendation in one tap. • Customer-ready PNG showing all four corners with color bands and per-tire findings, the kind of report that closes the sale on the spot • Auto-generated "Tire Check" summary in tech voice, with axle-paired replacement recs (front or rear tires, not LF/RF individually) • Wear-pattern chips automatically add a 4-wheel alignment rec, so you root-cause the wear before more tread is lost • Service flags for TPMS lights (on or flashing), AWD vehicles, and "Pulls left/right" complaints • A trackable video link drops into the note for each recommended service with a matching video in your library, so the customer can watch why an alignment matters and you can see whether they did Belt separation or an unrepairable leak forces replacement regardless of remaining tread, with the reason called out in the rec line ("due to belt separation"). Free play surfaces as its own suspension/steering diagnostic rec, not a tire replacement. 🛑 BRAKE HEALTH REPORT Same Workflow, For Brakes Disc or drum. /32 or mm, your call, persisted per device. Tap each corner, enter pad or shoe thickness, flag any pad, rotor, or caliper concerns. Send to Ticket attaches the PNG report and injects the recommendation. 12 Disc Chips Per Corner: Pad: Uneven wear, Noisy, Poor contact, Glazed Rotor: Grooved/lipped, Surface rust, Warped, Hot spotted Caliper: Seized, Slides stuck, Broken bleeder, Leaking Drum Brake Mode: Toggle "Drums (rear)" and the rear axle switches to a drum chip set: Shoes (Clean & adj. / Noisy / Delaminated), Wheel Cylinder (Leaking / Broken bleeder), and Other (Replace drums / Replace hardware / Axle seal leaking). Smart Recommendation Engine: • Pads and rotors always replaced together (fresh pads on a worn rotor surface promote uneven wear and noise) • Calipers and wheel cylinders both axle-pair for matched hydraulic balance • Replace recs auto-include a brake-flush line: the hydraulic system gets disturbed, so fluid should be fresh going back in • Your shop's matching service template auto-appends when a flush is recommended, alongside a trackable video link the customer can tap • EPB checkbox produces "Recalibrate electronic parking brake system," but only when the rear is actually being replaced 6 Brake Service Flags: Red brake light, ABS light, Drums (rear), EPB, PB doesn't hold, Pulsation/Shaking, each driving a tailored rec line. When a Replace rec is driven by a condition rather than depth (warped rotors with 6/32 of pad left, for example), the rec includes "due to warped rotors" so the customer sees the why before they ask. ❄️ A/C SERVICE REPORT Diagnose It And Document It From One Card TEST: Enter the ambient temperature and MECH Inspect shows the target low and high pressures for that system before you even look at the gauges. Enter what your manifold set reads and it names the most likely cause plus the next diagnostic steps. Static mode checks charge with the engine off. When the readings are genuinely undecidable it says so instead of guessing: a variable-displacement compressor at minimum stroke produces the same gauges as a different fault entirely, and you deserve to know that rather than chase the wrong repair. REPORT: Vent temps before and after, refrigerant recovered against the factory spec, recharge amount, oil and dye, cabin filter condition, findings, and parts replaced. Send to Ticket attaches a color-coded report carrying your test results with it: the readings, what was found, what was done, and a system diagram flagging the components involved. Built-In Shop Logic: • Replacing a compressor always drags the receiver-drier along with it • Replacing any refrigerant-circuit part automatically adds the O-ring kit and evac/recharge lines, exactly once, no matter how many parts you flag • At most one customer-facing diagnostic rec ever appears, and picking a replacement suppresses the diagnostics it makes moot • Refrigerant type, charge capacity, and oil spec fill in automatically when the vehicle is in the database Every field is optional. Fill in what you measured and the report renders what it was given. 🔧 COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC ANALYSIS Enter any DTC code (P0300, P0171, B1234, U0100) or describe a symptom ("rough idle when cold", "intermittent no-start") and get a full breakdown: • Plain-English code definition with a severity rating, so you know if it's safe to drive or needs immediate attention • Common causes ranked most to least likely for that specific vehicle, not a generic list of everything possible • Step-by-step diagnostic procedure: what to check first, what tools you need, what readings to expect • Labor time estimates for diagnosis and common repairs, to help with quoting and scheduling • Safety warnings where they apply: hybrid high voltage, fuel system pressure, airbag precautions • Related codes that commonly appear together, so you can separate root cause from symptom No code? Describe the symptom ("car shakes at highway speed", "AC blows warm intermittently") and MECH Inspect walks you through a diagnostic tree instead. 💼 SALES TOOLS THAT ACTUALLY CLOSE Every recommendation, whether from diagnostics, history analysis, or manual entry, gets a complete presentation package: • A conversational script, word-for-word: "Mr. Johnson, while we had your vehicle up on the lift, we noticed your brake fluid hasn't been flushed in over 3 years..." • Specific benefits in terms the customer understands ("could save you $3,000+ in transmission repairs down the road") • The risk of declining ("can lead to harsh shifting, slipping, or complete transmission failure") • A color-coded urgency level: 🔴 HIGH safety or imminent failure, 🟡 MEDIUM overdue, 🟢 LOW preventive One-Click "Sell All" Hit Sell on any note, or the permanent Sell button on Dash, and MECH Inspect builds a structured sell presentation for every service the technician recommended, in a diagnostic-flow layout your advisor can step through with the customer. Strictly the tech's recommendations, nothing invented. No more cobbling together pitches when there are five upsells on the ticket. One-Click "Insert into RO" Drop any single recommendation straight into the RO note without leaving the panel, right beside Copy All. One-Click Note Polishing Turn shorthand into professional documentation instantly. Input: "ck eng lite on p0300 misfr cyl 3 found bad coil pack replaced coil and plug test ok lite off" Output: "Check engine light on. Retrieved code P0300, random/multiple cylinder misfire. Diagnosed misfire isolated to cylinder 3. Found faulty ignition coil pack. Replaced ignition coil and spark plug on cylinder 3. Verified repair, test drive completed, no misfires detected, check engine light off." Preserves your measurements exactly (3/32" stays 3/32"). Expands abbreviations. Auto-recommends related services (brake fluid flush with brake work, alignment with suspension or steering, induction service with spark plugs) so nothing gets left off the ticket. The same polish turns rushed phone-call notes into a clean intake brief, and combines every multi-point finding into one customer-ready summary, from the note buttons or the Findings button on Dash. ⚡ SHOP SOFTWARE INTEGRATION MECH Inspect opens as a Chrome side panel directly alongside your shop management software. No switching tabs, no copy-pasting VINs, no interrupting your workflow. When you open a customer's record, MECH Inspect automatically detects the vehicle: VIN, year/make/model/engine, current mileage, and RO number, all captured without any manual entry. 🛠️ ADDITIONAL TOOLS Scan Report to RO Notes Upload a scan-tool PDF, choose a photo of your scanner screen, or paste a screenshot from the clipboard. MECH Inspect returns a clean, module-grouped list of every trouble code, ready to paste into the RO. Perfect for documenting pre-existing and intermittent codes before service, so the shop isn't blamed later for conditions that were already there. Photo Markup Annotate RO photos directly in the lightbox without downloading, editing, and re-uploading. Circle, arrow, and text tools in 5 colors, drag-to-size shapes, undo support. The marked-up image replaces the original on the RO in one click. Video Library Training and reference videos right from the side panel. Tap an item to play inline or attach the MP4 to the active RO note in one click. Health reports, recommendations, and Job Planner results add a trackable link to the matching video instead of the file itself, so the note stays light and you can see which explainers customers actually opened. Job Planner & Estimator Enter a job description and get estimated labor hours, parts typically required, common upsell opportunities for that job, and notes on vehicle-specific considerations. TSB & Recall Checker Real-time lookup against the NHTSA database, now on the Reports tab. Enter symptoms or just check the vehicle and see all open recalls and potentially relevant Technical Service Bulletins, with campaign numbers, affected components, full description, and remedy information. Shop Library Store and access your shop's note templates, reference photos, and training videos. Common inspection notes, canned responses, before/after shots, all accessible from the side panel. No download-edit-reupload: click an item and it slides straight into the RO note. 🔒 BUILT FOR REAL SHOPS Multi-User Organization Accounts Set up your whole shop. Technicians, advisors, and owners each get their own login, and a shared vehicle-history cache means everyone sees the same recommendations. Shop Analytics Dashboard Owners and managers get a companion web dashboard tracking how the team uses MECH Inspect: top users, daily activity, action mix, ROI estimates, and which features drive the most value. Know which advisors are pitching upsells, which techs are running diagnostic queries, and the dollar impact over time. 🏆 Friendly Competition Monthly shop leaderboard with prizes. Tap the trophy in the footer to see your rank in your shop and your shop's rank in the enterprise. Points come from work you're already doing, with daily caps to keep it fair. Off by default; enterprise admins opt in and set the prize text. Secure & Private • No customer contact information stored (names, addresses, phone numbers, email) • Only vehicle and repair-order data your shop already owns: VIN, mileage, license plate, service records, and the services recommended or declined on a ticket • Encrypted connections • Service-history lookups are cached for 48 hours; vehicle and repair-order records used for your shop's own analytics are retained on a rolling basis and automatically aged out Works With Your Process Keep using your shop software exactly as you do now.
