Overview

Calculates CPA metrics and analyses promoted posts for YouTube promotions

See the real cost of every YouTube promotion at a glance: CPM, cost per view, cost per subscriber and cost per website visit, calculated automatically inside YouTube Studio. Your best and worst performers are highlighted, so you know which promotions to scale and which to pause. No spreadsheets, no exports, no sign-up. Open your Promotions page and the numbers are already there. WHAT YOU GET Cost metrics on every promotion • CPM: cost per 1,000 impressions • CPV: cost per view • CPA: cost per subscriber gained • CPW: cost per website visit, for promotions with a website goal Performance rates • VPI: views as a percentage of impressions • VPS: subscribers as a percentage of impressions • Conversion: subscribers as a percentage of views • Visit Rate: website visits as a percentage of impressions (your website click-through rate) Best and worst highlighted The cheapest and most expensive CPM, CPV, CPA and CPW on the page are colour-marked, so outliers stand out without reading every number. Audience targeting under each promotion Studio hides each promotion's targeting on its own edit page. The extension reads it for you and shows it right under the metrics: • Locations • Gender • Age ranges • Interests • Languages • Follow-on views optimisation (subscribers vs. engaged audience) Compare what you spent with who you targeted, side by side, without clicking into each promotion. Performance Analysis on the edit page Open any promotion and a Performance Analysis panel appears under Studio's own Analytics row, with the same metrics worked out from that promotion's figures. Post Analysis in the toolbar popup • Total spend and average CPA, CPM and CPV across all promotions • Your five lowest and five highest CPA promotions, with their status • Plain-English insights: what's active, what's paused, what beats your average • One-click CSV export of every promotion, with its metrics and targeting, ready for Excel or Google Sheets A tidier Promotions table • The table is resized to fit your window, so column headings stay lined up with their values • An optional toggle collapses Studio's side menu to give the table more room • Long promotion titles wrap instead of stretching the table • Status colours make active and paused promotions easy to scan • Works with Studio's light and dark themes ACCURATE BY DESIGN • Your currency (£, €, $, ¥, ₹ and more) is read from the page, never assumed • Numbers are shown in your browser's own format: 1,234.56 or 1.234,56 • Thousands separators are handled correctly in every locale, so £1,234 is never misread as £1.23 • If a figure is missing or zero, the metric shows a dash, never a fake £0.00. A promotion with no subscribers has no CPA, rather than a "perfect" one. • Rounded figures like "1.5K" are left uncalculated rather than guessed PRIVATE AND SECURE • Nothing leaves your browser. The extension makes no network requests and has no servers, analytics or tracking. • Targeting data is cached on your own computer only, and refreshes automatically after 7 days • Minimal permissions, each with a reason: – Access to studio.youtube.com only: to read your Promotions page. No other website. – Tabs: to open each promotion's edit page in a background tab, read its targeting, then close it again – Scripting: to show targeting results on your Promotions page – Storage: to cache targeting on your computer so pages aren't re-read on every visit • Text read from the page is cleaned and safely escaped before it's shown or exported, and the CSV export is protected against spreadsheet formula injection HOW TO USE 1. Install the extension. 2. Open YouTube Studio and go to Content → Promotions. 3. Metrics appear under each promotion automatically. Press "Calculate CPA" at any time to refresh them and load audience targeting. 4. Click the toolbar icon, open the Post Analysis tab and press "Scan Promoted Posts" for totals, rankings, insights and CSV export. Metrics are shown for the first 10 promotions on the page; the button's status text says when more are listed. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS Where do the numbers come from? From your own YouTube Studio Promotions page. The extension reads the cost, impressions, views, subscribers and website visits that Studio already shows you, and does the maths. It never connects to YouTube's servers, Google Ads or any other service. Why does a metric show a dash (—) instead of a number? A metric can't be calculated when the figure it divides by is zero or missing. A promotion with no subscribers has no CPA, and one without a website goal has no CPW. Showing £0.00 would make it look like the best result on the page, so a dash is shown instead. Why does a promotion show a dash for website visits? YouTube only counts website visits for promotions with a website goal. Other promotions show a dash in Studio's Website visits column, so CPW and Visit Rate show a dash for them too. The CPW and Visit Rate cards only appear when your Promotions page has a Website visits column. What do the green and red highlights mean? Across the promotions shown, the cheapest CPM, CPV, CPA and CPW are marked as the best and the most expensive as the worst. Promotions with no value for a metric are left out of that comparison. Why does targeting take a few seconds to load? Studio only shows a promotion's targeting on its own edit page. The extension opens each of those pages in a background tab, reads the targeting, and closes the tab again. That takes a few seconds per promotion the first time, after which the result is cached for 7 days. Why did some tabs briefly open and close? Those are the background tabs used to read targeting (see above). The extension only ever closes tabs it opened itself; your own tabs are never touched. I changed a promotion's targeting. Why does the old targeting still show? Targeting is cached for up to 7 days so pages aren't re-read on every visit. To refresh it straight away, click the toolbar icon, press "Clear Targeting Cache", then press "Calculate CPA" on the Promotions page. Why are only 10 promotions shown with metrics? To keep the Promotions page fast, metrics are added under the first 10 promotions listed. The button's status text tells you when more are listed. Post Analysis in the toolbar popup covers every promotion on the page. Does it work with my currency and language settings? Yes. The currency symbol is read from your Promotions page, and numbers are shown in your browser's own number format. Studio's interface should be in English for audience targeting and the edit-page analysis, which find sections by their English headings. Why does a number look rounded, or not show at all? If Studio displays a shortened figure such as "1.5K", the exact value is unknown, so that metric is left blank rather than guessed. Calculating from a rounded number would give a misleading result. Does the extension change my promotions or spend any money? No. It only reads what's on the page. It never edits a promotion, changes a budget, or submits anything to YouTube. Can it see my other YouTube Studio data or other websites? It can only run on studio.youtube.com, and it only does anything on your Promotions list and promotion edit pages. It has no access to any other website. Is my data sent anywhere? No. All calculation happens in your browser, and the only thing stored is cached targeting, on your own computer. There are no accounts, analytics or tracking. The CSV export is saved straight to your computer. How do I open the CSV in Excel or Google Sheets? In the toolbar popup, go to Post Analysis, press "Scan Promoted Posts", then "Export Analysis CSV". The file opens directly in Excel, and can be imported into Google Sheets with File → Import. Currency symbols and non-English targeting labels display correctly. The metrics disappeared or look out of date. What should I do? Press "Calculate CPA" on the Promotions page to rebuild them. If the extension was just updated, reload the YouTube Studio tab first, because Chrome doesn't refresh extensions inside tabs that are already open. Does it work in Studio's dark theme? Yes. Everything the extension adds follows Studio's light or dark theme automatically.
