wxs.us Weather puts free US weather one click away. The toolbar badge shows the current temperature (or feels-like, or the air quality index, your choice). Click it for the full picture. WHAT YOU GET - Current conditions: temperature, feels like, humidity, wind, and dew point from the nearest National Weather Service station. - Today's high and low, the next 12 hours, and the coming days. - Rain in the next hour: a minute-by-minute timeline built from live radar, so you know whether to wait it out or grab a coat. - Severe weather alerts from the National Weather Service, shown in the popup and announced as a notification when a new one is issued. Choose every alert, warnings only, or none. - Air quality index from the EPA AirNow program, with the primary pollutant. - Several saved locations, by zip code or your current position, with a one-click switch between them. - A Radar button that opens the live radar at wxs.us. - Fahrenheit or Celsius. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO - No account, no sign-in, no ads, no paid tier. - No tracking. Your locations are stored in your browser and sent only to wxs.us to fetch the forecast. Nothing is sold or shared. - No guessing where you are. Location comes from a zip code you type or the browser's own location prompt, never from your IP address. - United States only. All data comes from US government sources (National Weather Service, Storm Prediction Center, EPA AirNow), so there is no coverage outside the US. HOW IT WORKS The extension checks for updates every 15 minutes by default (you can pick 10, 30, or 60), and refreshes when you open the popup. It is a small, plain extension: no frameworks, no bundled libraries, and it asks only for the permissions it needs (storage for your settings, alarms for the refresh schedule, notifications for alerts, and access to wxs.us). wxs.us is a free weather service for the United States, also available as a website, an Android app, a desktop app, and in the terminal.
