wudict Hover

Show wudict dictionary definitions on hover, optionally behind a modifier key.

wuDict Hover shows dictionary definitions for the word under your mouse cursor. wuDict Hover is a client for the free, open-source wuDict dictionary server running on your own machine (or another host on your local network): download a release for your OS or build from source from https://github.com/wuweidict/wudict — start the wudict server, point it at a folder with your local dictionaries and you are all set. HOW TO USE • Hover over a word while holding the Alt key, and a popup opens with the definition. • Selection — select text, right-click, and then pick "Look up … in wudict" (shortuct: Alt+Shift+W). • Toolbar — click the wudict icon (or Alt+W) to open the search box, see the connection state, and quickly access settings. The extension only connects to the wudict server you configured — by default http://127.0.0.1:6888, your own computer. No other connections are made. The extension does not read page content. It reads the word you point at, while holding the modifier key (Alt by default, can be configured to no key). SETTINGS The wuDict server URL, on/off, hold key, hover delay, how the search results open, right-click item on/off, dictionaries per lookup (1–8), entries per dictionary (1–10), inflection fallback attempts, and an explicit dictionary selection. REQUIREMENTS Chrome 116 or newer, and a running wudict server (free, open source, Windows/macOS/Linux). You can also run the open-source wudict app on your android device.
