WroteByMe
Overview
Turn a Google Doc's revision history into a shareable record of how you wrote it. Nothing is uploaded until you share.
Told your writing "looks AI-generated"? Show them how you wrote it. WroteByMe reads the revision history Google Docs already keeps and turns it into a short report you share as a link: how long you wrote, across how many sessions, how many revisions, and how much was pasted in. It works on documents you have already written. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open a Google Doc you wrote and click the WroteByMe icon. The panel opens beside the document. 2. Press Analyze this doc. The analysis runs in your browser. 3. Look over the report and choose what to share. 4. Press Share link. Send the link yourself, or email it from the panel with a note written from your numbers. WHAT YOUR READER SEES • Writing time, and each session with its date, length and edits • Revision count and characters typed and deleted • Paste analysis: every single insertion of 100 or more characters, and its share of the final text • A plain note on what the record can and cannot show • Optional, off by default: a replay of the document being written, or the history of each paragraph PRIVATE BY DEFAULT • Runs in your browser. Nothing leaves it until you press Share link. • Numbers only by default. Document text is shared only if you turn on replay or paragraph history. • Never sent: the raw revision history, collaborators' names or emails, the Google Doc link. • Links can expire after 7, 30 or 90 days, and you can revoke one at any time. • No account needed to share. Google sign-in is optional: it lets you email a link from the panel, see how often each link was opened, and revoke or delete it. QUESTIONS Does WroteByMe detect AI? No. It does not guess or give a score. It shows the editing record Google Docs kept and states plainly what that record can and cannot show. A teacher or client can check the numbers against the document's version history. Do I have to set anything up before I write? No. Google Docs records the history as you type, so WroteByMe works on documents you finished weeks ago. What if I wrote somewhere else and pasted it in? The report shows that as a large insertion and says it cannot show how that text was written. It never hides a paste. Who is it for? Students asked to show their work, freelance and professional writers whose clients run AI detectors, and anyone whose own writing was flagged. WroteByMe does not detect AI and does not certify authorship. Methodology: https://wrotebyme.com/methodology
