WritePair: On-Device AI Writing Assistant
Overview
Rewrite, proofread, translate & summarize in any text field. Runs on your device — no account, no API key, no credits.
WritePair puts an AI writing partner inside every text field you already use — and the AI runs on your own computer, not on someone's server. Select any text on any site and a small toolbar appears: rewrite, proofread, expand, shorten, change the tone, translate, or just ask for whatever you want. Nothing you write is uploaded to be processed. No account. No API key. No credit counter. Install it and start writing. ──────────────────── YOUR WRITING STAYS ON YOUR DEVICE WritePair runs on Chrome's built-in, on-device AI (Gemini Nano). The part of WritePair that lives on the pages where you type has no network path out — so your drafts, your selections, the page around you, and your email threads are never sent anywhere to be processed. There is no cloud model reading what you write. That is not a policy promise. It is how the extension is built. It also means there is nothing to meter. Because the model runs on your machine, WritePair doesn't count your words, your requests, or your credits. Whatever your plan, every action on it is unlimited — WritePair sells features, never allowance. Nobody has ever been throttled by us and nobody ever will be. ──────────────────── FREE, UNLIMITED, FOREVER — NO ACCOUNT • Rewrite — rephrase a sentence or paragraph into something clearer. You get three drafts to browse, not one. • Proofread — fix grammar, spelling and punctuation, with every correction highlighted so you see exactly what changed before you accept it. On demand only — no underlines, no nagging as you type. • Translate — anything you write or read, on device, without your text ever leaving it. WritePair detects the language you wrote in, remembers your usual targets, and lets you correct a wrong guess in one click. Each language pair downloads once, on demand. • Summary — a plain TL;DR of anything you select, including text you are only reading. Run these as often as you like. No credits, no quotas, no word counts, no sign-up. Grammarly caps its free AI at 100 prompts a month; ours has no cap at all, because there is no server to pay for. ──────────────────── WRITEPAIR PRO Everything above stays free. Pro adds the rest of the product — and it is unlimited too. Try Pro free for 7 days when you first use a Pro feature — cancel before it ends and you are not charged. • Expand — turn a quick note into a full paragraph. • Shorten — cut the fluff, keep the meaning. • Tone — Professional, Casual, Friendly, Persuasive or Formal, changed in one click and swapped again straight from the result. • Ask AI — type any instruction ("make this a LinkedIn post", "reply politely but firmly") and pin the ones you repeat as one-click custom actions. • Compose — start from an empty field and a one-line brief, and WritePair drafts it. • Key Points — the argument, as bullets. • List — a faithful list of what the text actually says. • Table — messy prose turned into a real table. • Email replies — on Gmail and other webmail, one click drafts a reply that actually understands the thread — read on your device, never uploaded. • Autocomplete — the rest of your sentence, suggested inline as you type. Press Tab to take it. You still never need a password or a traditional account. WritePair Pro is tied to the email you pay with, so to use it you sign in with that email through a one-time link — nothing to set up, nothing to remember. That same sign-in unlocks Pro on every computer you use it on, renewals included. Your name and your card details go to Paddle, our payment provider; they never reach us. Every suggestion is a suggestion: it appears inline, and your text only changes when you press Replace. If you change your mind, one press of Undo puts it back. ──────────────────── WORKS WHERE YOU WRITE Gmail, LinkedIn, X, Notion, Slack, support desks, CMS editors, web forms, comment boxes — if it's a text field, WritePair is there. It handles plain inputs, rich contenteditable editors, and fields tucked inside iframes and shadow DOM, and it inserts text through each site's own editing pipeline, so the site's native undo keeps working. Two toolbar layouts, your choice: a compact bar under your selection, or a command panel you can drag anywhere, with every action in one place. Start an action however you like — from the toolbar, the right-click menu, your own keyboard shortcut, or the WritePair popup. Use it in English, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, German or French. ──────────────────── THE POPUP RUNS IT TOO Select something and click WritePair in the browser bar: the popup offers exactly the actions that fit what you selected — the edits when you're in a text field, Summary, Key Points, List, Table and Translate when you're only reading. One click runs it on the page, and the result lands in the same card the toolbar shows. It's the whole toolbar, from the one button that never moves. • Ask AI from here as well — type an instruction, or reuse one you pinned or used recently. • On / Snooze / Off for the site you're on. Snooze lasts until you close the tab. • Privacy Mode, one tap away. • A status line that tells you whether the on-device model is ready. Everything else opens in a full settings tab: toolbar layout, on-device model status and downloads, a playground to try it on safe sample text, a keyboard shortcut for every action, history & favorites (stored on your device only), email replies, style learning, page-context awareness, default tone and languages, feedback & roadmap — and an analytics panel that shows exactly which anonymous, non-content events are counted, with one switch to turn collection off. Style learning lives there too: as you accept suggestions, WritePair adapts to your own voice — learned on your device, and only if you allow it. ──────────────────── PRIVACY, HONESTLY WritePair is built in two clearly separated tiers, and we'd rather explain both than overclaim. • Your content never leaves your device. Everything you write, select or read is processed only by Chrome's built-in, on-device AI. The in-page part of WritePair has no way to send it anywhere. • A small, non-content operational layer. So WritePair can run as a product, its own popup pages use a minimal backend for non-content data only: an anonymous identifier created on first run (no name, no email, and no account to create), an optional feedback link-out, and anonymous diagnostics. This layer never carries the text you write. If you buy Pro, you sign in with the email you paid with — a one-time link, no password — so the purchase unlocks on every computer you use; that email is the one thing it is ever used for, and the free tier never needs it. • Anonymous diagnostics — on by default, off in one tap. Which features run, and error signatures. Never your text, with on-screen text masked. Turn them off any time in Settings → Analytics, where the built-in panel shows exactly what is counted so you can check for yourself. • Privacy Mode. Flip it on and WritePair won't read the page, save history, or learn from what you type. Mute it entirely on any site. • Password, one-time-code and payment fields are never touched — that one isn't a setting you can turn off. ──────────────────── WHY WRITEPAIR Most AI writing tools do one of three things: fix your grammar, push you into a sidebar and a paid account, or send everything you type to their servers. WritePair does none of them. It generates and edits inline, in the field you're already in; it works on what you read, not just what you write; and it runs on your device, so your words stay yours and nobody is counting them. Write better. Write faster. Write together. ──────────────────── Note: WritePair runs on Chrome's built-in AI (Gemini Nano), available in recent Chrome versions on supported hardware. On first use, Chrome downloads the on-device model once — after that it works offline. The Settings screen shows exactly which models your device is ready to run.
