🚧 This Extension Is In Beta Please be aware that unexpected behavior may occur. If you notice any bugs, I'd appreciate it if you could report them via the link in the bottom-right corner of the editor. Suggestions for improvement are also welcome. Thank you for your cooperation. --- Write Flyre is a simple Markdown editor that appears when you click on an empty area of a webpage. When you move your cursor away from the editor, it becomes semi-transparent, allowing you to read the content of the webpage while you write. 🪽 Basic Controls - Show the editor Click on an empty area of the webpage. Or press Shift+ESC while focus is on the webpage. - Hide the editor Click on an empty area of the webpage while the editor is visible. Or press Shift+ESC while the editor is focused. - Move the editor Drag the top of the editor. Or press the arrow keys while the Zzz button is focused. - Resize the editor Drag the edges of the editor (except the left edge). Or press Shift+Arrow keys while the Zzz button is focused. - Shrink the editor slightly Double-click the left half of the editor's top bar. - Expand the editor slightly Double-click the right half of the editor's top bar. - Show the file browser Drag the left edge of the editor. Or press Cmd+B while the editor is focused. - Make the editor semi-transparent / restore it Move the cursor away from the editor (anywhere except the left edge) / move the cursor back. - Make the editor semi-transparent + click-through / restore it Move the cursor away from the left edge of the editor, or hover over the Zzz button. Or press Esc while the editor is focused, or press Esc while the Zzz button is focused. - Save content Auto-saved 1 second after your last input. - Turn the extension off/on Click the gold feather icon on a black background at the top of your browser. To suspend or remove it completely, use your browser's extensions page. On Chromium-based browsers, the editor also works on PDF pages — though toggling visibility via click or ESC is not available. šŸ’¤ Zzz Mode Move the cursor away from the left edge of the editor, or press ESC while the editor is focused, to enter Zzz Mode. In this state, the editor becomes fully transparent — not just visually, but interactively. You can click and select elements in the background. In Zzz Mode, the editor accepts only two inputs: - Arrow keys to move - Shift + Arrow keys to resize To exit Zzz Mode, hover over the goofy button in the middle, or press ESC while that button is focused (indicated by a yellow outline). ā˜•ļø Troubleshooting This editor is brand new. A few bugs are probably still hiding somewhere. Honestly — definitely hiding somewhere. As the misspelling 'Write Flyre' suggests, I cannot be trusted to see straight. - The editor doesn't appear Depending on the webpage's settings or where you click, the editor may not appear. In that case, try clicking in a different spot first. If that doesn't work, try holding Shift while clicking, or pressing the ESC key. If it still won't show up, go make some tea and take a break. Same goes for any other bugs you run into. If you find yourself with some mental bandwidth to spare, sharing a brief description of the issue via the link in the bottom-right corner of the editor would be a great help. - The editor appears at unexpected times The editor is designed not to appear when you click on interactive HTML elements like buttons or text areas. However, there are cases where this detection doesn't work correctly. In particular, when such elements are dynamically generated by JavaScript, they may slip past the detection and trigger the editor anyway. If you report the details, I'll fix what I can. What I can't fix, I'll pretend I didn't see. - Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z doesn't undo Cmd+Z / Ctrl+Z only works while you're on the same page and the same file is active. If you navigate to a different page or switch to another file, Write Flyre forgets everything up to that point. It has a bird-brained memory.
