Work Commit
Overview
A local work commit log for browser-based work.
Work Commit is a Chrome extension for keeping a local record of browser-based work. It helps you start a focused work session, capture short notes at a regular cadence, and export a simple work history when you need it. What It Does - Tracks a manual work session from the extension popup. - Opens a reminder window on the configured cadence so you can log what changed. - Stops the session automatically after two unanswered reminder cycles. - Supports short task names with optional JIRA or related links for quick access. - Stores all data locally with `chrome.storage.local`. - Exports logs as a text file. How It Works 1. Set your display name during onboarding. 2. Add tasks from Settings. Task links are optional, but valid links can be opened from the task picker. 3. Click "Start working" to begin a session. 4. Use the reminder prompt or "Log now" action to save short work notes. 5. Stop manually when done, or let the idle detection stop the session after missed prompts. Storage And Privacy Work Commit is local-first. The MVP does not use accounts, passwords, email, external APIs, or sync services. User profile data, tasks, sessions, and logs are stored in Chrome extension local storage. Clearing Chrome extension storage can remove this local data. Export logs when you need a durable backup. If this gets atleast 10 users, I will open source this project!
