Learn English vocabulary from the pages you already read. If you read English books, articles and papers that sit a little above your level, you already meet words you may want to learn. You just lose many of them again before the end of the page. WordySpot catches them while you read. On any page, it highlights English words you may want to learn, based on your vocabulary settings and saved list state rather than a fixed beginner list. Click one to see what it means and hear how it sounds, without leaving the page or opening a tab. Save the ones you want, and they are waiting in your lists on wordyspot.com when you come to review them. WHO THIS IS FOR Intermediate and advanced learners who would rather build vocabulary out of real reading than drill someone else's flashcard deck. If you are at the very beginning of English, this is not the right tool yet. HOW IT WORKS • Scan visible text on a page and WordySpot suggests English words you may want to learn. • Text hidden by the page, inside a closed disclosure, or marked unavailable to readers is excluded. • Scanning stops at explicit processing limits to keep large pages responsive. If it stops early, WordySpot labels the result as partial and counts only the text it processed. • Use Rescan page when the page's content changes after loading; WordySpot does not continuously monitor page changes. • Candidate words are checked against a dictionary that ships inside the extension, on your own machine. The page you are reading is never uploaded. • Click a highlighted word to request its definition. Press its audio button to request pronunciation. • Save a word to one of your lists. It syncs to your WordySpot account, so it is there in your other browsers too. • Words you have marked as known stop being highlighted, so pages get quieter as your vocabulary grows. • Your vocabulary level lives in your account on wordyspot.com: treat the commonest words as familiar, and only rarer words are suggested. WHAT YOU CAN CHANGE • Which side the reading panel opens on, how far down it sits, and how long a highlight lasts. • Light theme, dark theme, or whatever your system is set to. • Where WordySpot runs — turn it off on a site, or let it run only on the sites you pick. There is a tester, so you can check a rule before you rely on it. ABOUT PRIVACY Visible page text is processed locally and is never uploaded. Hidden or explicitly unavailable text is excluded, and your browsing history is not recorded. Candidate-word checks use the dictionary bundled with the extension and need no network request. A selected word leaves your browser only when you ask for its definition, save it, or press its audio button. Pronunciation requests omit cookies and the address of the page you are reading. Your lists, saved and known words, settings, and site rules you typed yourself can synchronize with your WordySpot account.
