There is no need to constantly switch apps or leave the content you are viewing. Looking up words becomes a natural extension of reading instead of an interruption that breaks your train of thought. Simply click a word, or drag to select a phrase or sentence, to view its translation on the current page, hear its pronunciation, and automatically create a flashcard. WordSnap records every highlight, allowing vocabulary building to blend naturally into your everyday reading and viewing. When you want to explore a word in greater depth, select “Detailed Lookup” to open Google Images, YouGlish results matched to your learning language, and the corresponding Wikipedia entry in new tabs—all at once. There is no need to copy and search the word on each site individually. You can quickly build a visual association, hear how native speakers pronounce and use the word in authentic contexts, and understand the concepts and background behind it. Immersive Reading Experience • In-page word lookup: Click an unfamiliar word or drag to select a phrase, and its translation appears instantly above the original text without taking you away from the page. • Interactive YouTube subtitles: Click any word in the subtitles to pause the video immediately and display its translation, giving you time to understand it in context. • Ebook reader: Import ebooks and build your vocabulary in a focused, uninterrupted reading environment. Customize the font, text size, line spacing, reading width, and alignment. Choose between continuous scrolling and page-by-page reading. Quickly jump to a specific reading position or book chapter whenever needed. • Built-in dictionary: View dictionary definitions for selected words directly inside the reader without leaving your current content. • One-click detailed lookup: From any saved vocabulary card, open Google Images, language-matched YouGlish results, and Wikipedia together. Flexible Sync Across Devices WordSnap can be used entirely locally, with no account required to access its core features. After signing in, you can sync flashcards, review records, imported books, and reading progress across devices so your learning continues seamlessly. Your data is also backed up to the cloud to help reduce the risk of accidental data loss. Choose your native language and the language you want to learn separately. Each language has its own independent books, flashcards, and learning history, so switching languages never mixes your study materials. WordSnap currently supports dedicated learning spaces for English, Chinese, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Japanese, Korean, Arabic, and Thai. WordSnap is designed for language learners who value efficient reading and deep focus. It helps turn the authentic content you read and watch every day into language knowledge that you can understand, review, and retain for the long term. Translation is provided through WordSnap's authenticated Supabase proxy. Account synchronization is optional. Permission explanations storage: saves settings, vocabulary cards, review history, and reader data. unlimitedStorage: supports imported books and bundled offline dictionary indexes. activeTab: identifies the current site for the per-site enable/disable control. Website access on HTTP and HTTPS pages: makes visible page text and YouTube subtitles interactive for translation and card creation. *.supabase.co: authenticates translation requests, calls the WordSnap translation proxy, and supports optional account synchronization. Data-use summary WordSnap does not sell user data or use it for advertising. Selected text and source/target languages are sent to the authenticated WordSnap Supabase Edge Function only when requested; the function forwards the request to Google Cloud Translation. Signed-in learning and reader data are synchronized through Supabase. The Google service credential is stored only as a server-side secret and is not included in the extension.
