What You Get (Basic Stats) As soon as you select text and open the popup, you'll see: Words — accurate word count for Latin, Cyrillic, and other space‑separated scripts. CJK Characters — automatically switches to CJK character count when Chinese, Japanese, or Korean text is detected. Characters (with spaces) Characters (no spaces) Reading time — calculated at 275 words per minute (industry standard). Speaking time — calculated at 180 words per minute (average speech rate). Times are displayed in exact seconds (e.g., "35 sec") or minutes with seconds (e.g., "1 min 20 sec"), not rounded estimates. Advanced Stats (Toggle On) Enable the Advanced Stats toggle to unlock deeper insights into your text — all computed locally, without any external service: Sentences — accurately counts sentences, including those ending with . ! ? … Paragraphs — counts text blocks separated by line breaks. Average word length — helps assess vocabulary complexity. Average sentence length — a key readability metric. Longest sentence and Shortest sentence — spot unusually long or short structures. Unique words — measures lexical diversity, useful for SEO and copywriting. Unique CJK Support Most word counters fail on Chinese, Japanese, and Korean (CJK) text. Word Count Tools uses a smart detection algorithm that automatically replaces "Words" with "CJK Characters" when CJK scripts are detected. For mixed‑language texts (e.g., English + Japanese), you get both the word count for the Latin/Cyrillic part and the CJK character count for the Asian part — clearly separated, no confusion.
