Windowed Fullscreen for YouTube - Fill Only the Chrome Window
Overview
Windowed fullscreen for YouTube: the video fills only the Chrome window, not your whole screen. Watch side by side with other apps.
Windowed fullscreen for YouTube fills the video player only inside the current Chrome window, instead of taking over your whole screen. Keep Chrome on half of your display and the video fills exactly that half - ideal for watching while you work, chat, or take notes in another app. How to use 1. Hover over the player on any youtube.com watch page. 2. Click the toggle button that appears in the top-right corner of the player. 3. Click again or press Esc to leave windowed fullscreen. Why windowed fullscreen instead of YouTube's own fullscreen - YouTube's fullscreen (F key) uses the OS fullscreen API and covers the entire monitor. - Theater mode keeps the page header and sidebar, so the video stays small. - This extension gives you the missing middle: a true fullscreen video inside the window you already have. Highlights - No permission prompts - runs only on youtube.com and touches no other site. - No data collection, no tracking, no network requests. - No custom keyboard shortcuts, so it never conflicts with YouTube hotkeys (only Esc is handled, to exit). - Lightweight: a single content script and a stylesheet. Known limitations - Behavior may change if YouTube restructures its page layout. - May overlap visually when combined with theater mode or picture-in-picture.
