Overview

Play on the real Wikipedia: one start page, one destination, nothing but links. Daily challenge, solo, or take on a friend.

From the Mona Lisa to a hot dog, without leaving Wikipedia. WikiChallenge gives you a start page and a destination, and you get there by clicking Wikipedia's own links, nothing else. Play today's challenge, practise solo, or take on a friend. Not a copy. The real Wikipedia. No rebuilt pages, no iframe: you play on wikipedia.org, with its real pages and up-to-date links. The extension adds a WikiChallenge side panel to Chrome, and it only wakes up during a game. How it plays - Meet your destination. You get 10 seconds to study it. - Then the start page opens, for everyone at the same instant. - Click your way there. First to arrive wins, and the game ends for everyone the moment someone does. - Watch your opponent move: their clicks and their distance from the start, live. Never their page. - At the end, the replay shows everyone's route. Today's pair One pair, the same for everyone, new every day at noon (Paris time), in English and in French. One attempt: make it count. The shortest route wins, in links followed; on a tie, the first to arrive. No account needed: play as a guest, see the rank you'd have, and keep it if you create your account. Copy your result and challenge your group chat — your route stays secret until the next day. With friends Create a game, send the code or the link, or invite a friend by username: they get pinged even with the panel closed. A free account is all it takes — email sign-in, no password. Fair play Pages that aren't part of the game are blocked at the click instead of costing you the game. Typing an address, using Wikipedia's search box, switching language or opening a link in a new tab disqualifies. The back button is allowed. Every route is checked against Wikipedia's links before it's ranked. What it needs Google Chrome on a computer. The extension reads only the title and address of the Wikipedia pages you open during a game. An optional permission lets it show a bar on your other tabs for the two moments you're not looking at the game: the 60-second countdown to come back after you close the game tab, and the verdict when a move takes you away from Wikipedia. You can refuse it and get a Chrome notification instead. Signed in, it can also tell you when a friend invites you or sends a friend request, and remind you at noon when today's pair is out and you haven't played it yet (you can turn the reminder off).
