Overview

Casio-style scientific calculator in a browser side panel — solve math while you stay on any tab.

WideMath is a free scientific calculator that lives in Chrome's side panel, so it stays open beside your homework, notes, docs or any web page. WHY INSTALL IT Most calculators in a browser stop at trigonometry. This one carries the full set across eight calculation modes: matrices, vectors, complex numbers, statistics with regression, equation solving, base-N arithmetic and numerical calculus. There is nothing to download, no account to create and no connection required once it is installed. It also shows the work. Your expression stays on screen beside the result, the history is scrollable, and the exact form is one keypress away from the decimal, so you can check a step instead of trusting a number. INSPIRED BY THE fx-991ES PLUS WideMath is an independent scientific calculator inspired by the Casio fx-991ES PLUS. The key layout, the SHIFT and ALPHA layers and the eight calculation modes follow the same conventions, so if you already use that handheld your muscle memory carries over and you are not learning a new interface in the middle of a problem. WideMath is not affiliated with or endorsed by Casio. WHAT IT DOES - Opens in Chrome's side panel and stays there while you switch tabs - Opens in a floating window instead, when you want a dedicated view - Returns exact answers: fractions stay fractions, surds stay surds, and one key gives you the decimal - Trigonometry, logarithms, powers, roots, factorials and combinations - Matrices, vectors, complex numbers, statistics and numerical calculus - Runs entirely offline, with every calculation performed locally in your browser EIGHT CALCULATION MODES - COMP: general calculations - CMPLX: complex numbers, with polar and rectangular conversion - STAT: statistics and regression - BASE-N: binary, octal, decimal and hexadecimal, plus AND, OR, XOR, XNOR, Not and Neg - EQN: equation solving, including quadratic and simultaneous workflows - MATRIX: matrix arithmetic, determinants, inverses and transposes using MatA, MatB and MatC - TABLE: numerical tables generated from an expression - VECTOR: vector arithmetic and dot products ALSO INCLUDED - Numerical integration and differentiation, with a guided input for definite integrals - SHIFT and ALPHA key layers - Angle units: Deg, Rad and Grad - Independent memory, variables A to F plus X and Y, and a scrollable history - Both mouse and keyboard input - Alt+Shift+C opens the side panel, Alt+Shift+W opens a floating window PRIVACY AND PERMISSIONS This extension requests exactly one permission, sidePanel, so the tool can stay open next to your tabs. It has no host permissions, which means it cannot read the pages you visit. It does not touch your browsing history, does not require an account, and does not collect or sell personal data. WHO IT IS FOR Engineering, physics and mathematics students who need a full calculator on a laptop. Teachers who want one they can project. Engineers and researchers checking figures beside a paper or a spreadsheet. Anyone who wants a real scientific calculator rather than a four-function one, without switching apps or reopening a website every time. FULL WEBSITE Prefer the full-page version?
