Who Runs Your Web
Overview
Silently scans sites for TLS security, harvest defence, and quantum readiness as you browse.
Why I built this A conversation with a quantum computing researcher changed how I think about the websites I visit every day. They explained how today's encrypted traffic could be recorded now and decrypted years from now, once quantum computers are powerful enough — a real strategic concern, not science fiction. That sent me down a rabbit hole. I wanted to understand what actually happens technically when I visit a website — the layers of trust involved before a page even loads: who issues the certificate, who hosts the content, who's quietly serving the ads and analytics alongside it. What I found surprised me. A small number of infrastructure companies sit behind a huge share of the sites we all use daily, and almost nobody knows it, because there was never any reason to look. Who Runs Your Web is the tool I built to make that visible — first for myself, then for anyone curious enough to want the same picture. What it actually does Trust Score — a TLS security grade for every site you visit, generated automatically as you browse Harvest Defence — flags sites vulnerable to the "harvest now, decrypt later" risk I learned about in that first conversation Quantum Readiness — shows which sites are genuinely prepared for a post-quantum world, and which aren't close Uninvited Guests — the third parties loading silently on the page, grouped by who actually owns them Who Runs Your Web — your own map of infrastructure concentration, built from the sites you actually visit AI Pattern Analysis — plain-English insights into your specific browsing exposure, not a generic checklist A different kind of security tool No red, no "WARNING," no fear-based scoring. Most people can't act on most security information anyway — so instead of advice you can't use, this just shows you the facts. Scan history stays local. Anonymous reporting toward a public infrastructure map is opt-in and off by default — nothing leaves your machine unless you turn it on.
