Full description WhatsApp Privacy Pro keeps your conversations private when you're using WhatsApp Web in a shared space — at work, in a café, or anywhere someone might glance at your screen. Granular blur controls Every element is independently toggleable. Blur only the parts that matter to you: Chat messages: blurs incoming and outgoing message text Message previews: blurs the snippet shown in the sidebar chat list Media: covers images, videos, and stickers in conversations Profile pictures: hides contact and group avatars throughout the interface Contact and group names: replaces names with blurred blocks in the sidebar and conversation header Compose box blur: blurs your draft while you type; clears the moment you click into the input Use the blur intensity slider to dial in exactly how obscured you want things from a subtle soft haze to fully opaque. Hover to reveal Enable hover-to-reveal and any blurred element becomes readable the moment your cursor moves over it. Move away and it blurs again. No clicks, no toggles. Per-chat privacy rules Open any conversation and use the shield icon in the conversation header to set a custom rule for that chat: always blur it regardless of global settings, never blur it so it stays readable, or reset to default. The icon turns green for always-blur and red for never-blur so you can see at a glance which chats have overrides. PIN lock and auto-lock Protect WhatsApp with a 4-digit PIN. Your PIN is hashed with SHA-256 through the browser's built-in Web Crypto API. Set an idle timer to lock automatically after 1, 2, 5, 10, 15, or 30 minutes of inactivity. After 5 consecutive wrong PIN attempts, the lock screen disables entry for 5 minutes. This lockout persists across page reloads. Notification masking When privacy mode is on, OS-level notification popups replace the sender's name and message preview with "WhatsApp — New message" so nothing leaks while your screen is visible to others. Stealth mode Hides the online / last-seen indicator in the conversation header so others can't tell you're currently active. Keyboard shortcuts Alt+X — toggle privacy mode on or off without opening the popup Alt+L — lock WhatsApp immediately Privacy and permissions This extension operates exclusively on web.whatsapp.com. It makes zero network requests, sends no data anywhere, and collects nothing. All settings — including your PIN hash, blur preferences, and chat rules — are stored locally in your browser using Chrome's storage API. Permissions used: storage — saves your preferences and PIN hash locally alarms — powers the auto-lock idle timer under Manifest V3 notifications — enables notification masking while privacy mode is active
