Overview
Whale's Tail: By Crystal Worl
In Southeast Alaska, there is an abundance of sea life and resources that have shaped the life styles of many people. The word Tlingit means people of the tide. For more than ten thousand years the land and its resources have shaped Tlingit culture and way of life. Indigenous cultural knowledge and understanding must be shared and heard to protect the planet for generations yet to experience it. Now is our world’s time for us to include and embrace Indigenous values as a means to collectively survive. Crystal Worl is a Tlingit, Athabascan, Yupik, and Filipino artist based in Juneau Alaska. In addition to public art, mixed media, and fine art, she is Co-Owner of Trickster Company, an innovative Indigenous graphic design gift shop online.
