Overview

Collect fragments from across your tabs and weave them into cited reports, rewrites, diagrams and fact-checks.

Weft turns Chrome into a source-grounded research workspace for both web pages and PDFs. Collect the material that matters into organized Sessions, then transform it into cited answers, reports, rewrites, verifications, summaries, and diagrams. Unlike tools that answer from an opaque or constantly changing context, Weft starts with the evidence you deliberately collected. Citation markers such as [S#] and [W#] connect generated answers to the corresponding Session snippets or approved web sources, making it easier to inspect the evidence behind each conclusion. Why install Weft? - Web and PDF research: Save text, images, and links from web pages. Read supported PDFs, select passages by a flexible toolbar, run quick analysis, and preserve page-aware citations and highlights. - Session-first workflow: Organize evidence by topic and keep your research scope across tabs and browsing sessions—without silently treating the active page as your entire context. - Traceable answers: Follow [S#] citations back to saved evidence and [W#] citations back to external sources used during Deep Search. - Verifiable Smart Read: Extract key ideas from long pages and PDFs while checking quoted passages against the source text. Large documents are analyzed in adaptive chunks for better reliability. - Human-in-the-loop Deep Search: Weft searches your Session first, identifies evidence gaps, and asks for approval before sending any web search query. - Flexible synthesis: Turn collected evidence into reports, rewrites, summaries, fact checks, key takeaways, and Mermaid diagrams. - Portable research: Export a Session as a readable HTML file and import it back into Weft while preserving supported source, PDF page, and Smart Read metadata. - Flexible model support: Use Chrome’s built-in AI where available, or connect a supported cloud or local model. Thinking is disabled by default for faster responses whenever the model allows it. Weft is designed for researchers, analysts, students, journalists, and professionals who want useful AI assistance without losing control of their sources or research scope.
