WebSave
Overview
Save web pages as Markdown to your private cloud storage, with persistent text highlighting
WebSave is a local-first web archiving tool that saves the page you choose as Markdown or standalone HTML. Save to a local folder selected in Chrome or to a WebDAV/NAS endpoint that you configure. Key features: • Save the active page as Markdown or HTML with its source link and configurable front matter. • Markdown saves the document, images, and highlight JSON; HTML embeds images into one offline file. • Create highlights and notes and restore them when the same page is opened again. • Synchronize highlights and notes to a JSON sidecar and the corresponding Markdown snapshot. • Keep the archive in your own local folder or WebDAV. WebSave does not provide developer-hosted storage. WebDAV is optional. Local saves write only to the folder explicitly selected by the user. WebDAV saves connect only to the endpoint configured by the user. WebDAV endpoints must use HTTPS. Plain HTTP is allowed only for local testing on localhost, 127.0.0.1, or ::1. When “Remember password on this device” is enabled, the WebDAV password stays in device-local Chrome extension storage. It is not stored in Chrome Sync and is excluded from configuration exports. Users may instead choose session-only retention. WebSave does not send page content, browsing activity, credentials, highlights, or notes to the developer or to analytics, advertising, or AI services.
