WebP & AVIF Converter Pro — Open Source
Overview
Convert images to PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF locally with real codecs. Live preview, size compare, no tracking. Open source.
Convert images to PNG, JPG, WebP or AVIF — entirely on your device, using real image codecs compiled to WebAssembly. It reads the common web image formats (including WebP and AVIF) and re-encodes them with professional-grade quality. No servers. No tracking. No ads. Open source. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ WHY IT'S DIFFERENT ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Most converter extensions rely on the browser's basic canvas export, which silently drops quality, mishandles modern formats, and struggles with large images. Converter Pro uses dedicated WebAssembly codecs — the same kind of encoders behind professional tools — for predictable, high-quality results: • True AVIF support via libavif — real decode and encode, not a checkbox • mozjpeg encoding — typically smaller files at the same visual quality • libwebp with both lossy and lossless modes • Correct image orientation, so photos are never saved sideways ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PREVIEW STUDIO ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Open any image in Studio to decide before you save: • See the result and its file size before downloading • Before / after slider to compare the original with the converted image • Live quality slider — the preview and file size update as you drag • Transparency fill control (white, black or custom) when converting to a format without an alpha channel ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ FAST EVERYDAY USE ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ • Right-click any image to save it in your chosen format • Keyboard shortcuts — hover an image and press a hotkey (works on galleries where right-click is blocked) • Smart detection finds the image even behind overlays or CSS backgrounds • Warns you about search-engine thumbnails so you don't save a tiny preview • Drag and drop local files into the popup ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ PRIVACY ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ Everything happens locally in your browser. No image, URL, or usage data ever leaves your device. There are no servers, no analytics, no ads, and no third-party tracking. The full source code is open and auditable. Why this extension asks for "all sites" access: images on a page are often served from a different domain than the page itself. The extension needs to read the image data to convert it. That data is processed on your device and discarded after conversion — it is never sent anywhere. Open source (MIT). Built on the Squoosh / jSquash WebAssembly codecs.
