Overview

Convert any website into a fully editable design tree. Capture full page or selection, export as a .w2d file or copy to clipboard.

Turn any webpage into editable design layers. Web to Design captures the live, rendered layout of any website — geometry, colors, borders, shadows, typography, pseudo-elements, and images — and converts it into a structured, portable design document you can bring into your design workflow. Instead of screenshotting a site and rebuilding it by hand, capture it once and get a clean tree of layers with real measurements and styles. What you can do • Capture the full page in one click • Capture just a selection — highlight any section and grab only that • Copy the design tree to your clipboard as JSON • Download it as a portable .w2d file • Trigger captures with keyboard shortcuts (Shift+Alt+E for full page, Shift+Alt+D for selection) What gets captured • Exact element positions and sizes (page-absolute coordinates) • Fills, borders, corner radii, shadows, opacity, blend modes • Typography: font family, size, weight, line height, spacing, alignment, color • ::before / ::after pseudo-elements • Images (inlined as data URLs where possible, with a URL fallback) • Same-origin iframe content • A list of the fonts used on the page • An optional reference screenshot of the viewport Private by design Web to Design only reads a page when you actively trigger a capture. It does not run in the background, does not track your browsing, and does not send your data anywhere. Everything you capture stays on your device — saved as a file or copied to your clipboard. How it works When you capture, the extension reads each element's final computed style and precise on-screen position and assembles them into a nested layer tree (FRAME / TEXT / IMAGE / INPUT nodes). The output is an open JSON schema (web-to-design/1) that's easy to map onto any design tool's layer model. Note: Capture works on standard http(s) web pages. Browser system pages (chrome://…) and the Chrome Web Store cannot be captured, as extensions are not permitted to run on them.
