WebShortcutCreator Create desktop web shortcuts with actual website icons in one click, directly from your Windows browser toolbar. Features One-click creation — click the extension icon on the browser toolbar to create a shortcut for the current page. Real icons — automatically extracts the original website favicon and embeds it into the shortcut. Flexible saving — choose between selecting a folder every time or saving instantly to a default directory. Privacy-focused — operates through a local companion app with no external services or network data transfer. Getting Started Install the extension from the Chrome Web Store. Pin the extension to your toolbar: click the puzzle piece icon (Extensions) next to the address bar and click the pin icon next to Web Shortcut Creator. Click the extension icon. If the required local host module is not installed yet, the extension will automatically show a notification with a direct download link for setup.exe. Run setup.exe to complete the one-time setup. Important: Pinning the icon prevents unintended file downloads when right-clicking the extension. Settings Right-click the extension icon on the toolbar and select Options: Ask for folder every time — opens a folder selection dialog whenever you create a shortcut. Save to default folder — saves shortcuts immediately to your designated folder (Desktop by default). Troubleshooting Right-click triggers a download? → Make sure the extension is pinned to the toolbar. Shortcut is not created? → Ensure the local companion app installation was completed successfully.
