)Overview
Travel through the history of any webpage. Drag a timeline to see its archived versions from the Internet Archive.
The web has a past. Web Rewinder lets you see it. Open any website, click the icon, and a timeline appears with every day that page was saved by the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine. Drag the cursor back to 2018 and let go: the page in front of you becomes the 2018 version. Keep going — 2014, 2009 — then press NOW to come back to today. It does not feel like opening an archive. It feels like rewinding the Internet. ★ HOW IT WORKS • Click the toolbar icon on any page: the timeline slides in. • Each tick is a day the page was archived. Where the page changed often, the ticks crowd together; long quiet years shrink, so the history of the page is easy to read. • Drag and let go, or click anywhere on the timeline. Nothing loads while you drag — the page changes only when you release. • The tooltip tells you exactly what you will get: "Snapshot available" or "Closest snapshot: 16 Mar 2018 · +2 days". No fake dates. • On the archived page the timeline is still there, marked ARCHIVED with the date. Jump again, or press NOW to return to the live page. ★ MADE TO BE COMFORTABLE • Bar at the bottom (default), at the top, or as a slim vertical column on the left or right — or just drag it to any edge. • Keyboard: arrows step from one archived day to the next, Home/End jump to the oldest/newest copy, T goes back to now, Esc closes. • Save this page on Wayback Machine: one click sends the current page to the Internet Archive's "Save Page Now", so today's version joins the timeline. • Light and dark mode, follows your system. • The page makes room for the bar like for a browser toolbar, so on most sites it covers neither menus nor footers. ★ PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no analytics, no tracking, no ads. • Web Rewinder does not collect or sell your browsing history. Timeline data is stored locally in your browser. • The extension only runs on a page when you click its icon. The only requests go directly from your browser to the Internet Archive. ★ FREE TRIAL, THEN ONE-TIME PURCHASE • Every feature is free for 15 days, starting the first time you open the timeline. No credit card. • After the trial, Web Rewinder Pro is a one-time purchase of €9.99 via PayPal — no subscription. Your unlock code arrives by e-mail and works on every computer where you use Chrome with the same account. Web Rewinder is an independent project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the Internet Archive. Archived pages are served by the Wayback Machine (web.archive.org); some old pages may look incomplete because not every image or script was captured at the time.
